Editorial Reviews: The Very Best of the Stone Roses is just what the world needs--another repackaging of the best of a band whose meagre album output (just two albums) inspired not only a whole host of indie rock bands across the UK, but also a generation of record company execs intent on making new money for old rope. To be honest, there's nothing to be found on The Very Best of the Stone Roses that doesn't already exist on the aforementioned albums--their seminal self-titled debut and their long-delayed (and inferior) follow-up The Second Coming. Granted, it's always a pleasure to hear some of this band's biggest songs, including "I Wanna Be Adored", "Made of Stone", "I Am the Resurrection", "Ten Storey Love Song" and "Love Spreads". However, all but the most die-hard Stone Roses completists will be hard pressed to justify shelling out their hard-earned money for some new John Squire artwork on the cover and a rare interview transcript in the liner notes. --Ted Kord

Comment: Right....oasis fans who think that oasis are the best british band since the beatles....listen to this.....Oasis' definately maybe got voted top british album of all time...pah! this is so much better, as is anything by radiohead, pink floyd and the beatles! Listen to songs such as fools gold, waterfall, i wanna be adored and i am the resurrection....these alone are better than any of the gallacher offerings....trust me and buy this! However, did we look into those bands in the depth they deserved? With recent bands such as Oasis inspired by the Stone Roses this album reviews the wonders of one of the finest bands to emerge from Britain. With classic songs such as "Made of Stone", "Resurection" "Fools Gold" and "Adored" this album has it all with a feel good factor and songs to relax to. If I could buy one album, I would invest in this. They (stone Roses) may be a distant memeory, but the power of their music will grow stronger each day as it moves from generation to generation. Are you made of Stone? Customer Rating: Summary: Like putting on an old soft shirt and finding it's got itchy Comment: I can't call myself a die hard Roses fan as I never bought the Second Coming. However I wore out a couple of tapes of the first album, in my youth, and was really excited when my husband bought me this. It's great to hear all the old stuff again but I have knocked a star off because I found the track sequencing is really strange - because I was familiar with the early stuff I expected to go straight back into that and then kept finding other things I dind't know in the middle of it. So it's my own fault really. Anyway would have been nice for it to have been a bit longer - maybe some B-sides or remixes or outtakes or something besides from a jumbled up track listing from two albums. More Reviews
