Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Alice back at his menacing best Comment: Well I like it, I like the sound and style of the album, the changes in pace of songs and the changes in intensity of the singing. While many people immediately compare this to Nightmare I would find it a better comparison musically to Constrictor. I really do love this newest offering from Alice, the guest appearances from Slash and Ozzy to me work well and the album does in fact follow a story of Spider from start to almost finish. I love the general feeling of discomfort that can be had from "I know where you live through" to the "killed by love" ballad and "one that got away". All in all a brilliant Alice outing, while many of you are saying this isn't Alice at his best what is? there are so many different styles and sounds in the past that it is impossible to say classic Alice or not, I like "Nightmare" and "Killers" as I like "Constrictor" and "Trash" but I also like "Zipper Catches Skin" so its down to personal choice and I personally can't wait for Alice to tour with this. (saw him with Motorhead last year, easily the best show that I have seen in ages!) Customer Rating: Summary: The Spider is here Comment: Alice Cooper, arguably one of the greatest rock icons the world has ever seen. As mentioned before Alice isnt as commercial as he was in the 70's and 80's with the latest commercial record Trash coming from the early 90's. However Along Came a Spider is full of hits that are going to be brought to life (unlike his victims) in his theatrical concert Along Came a Spider next year. Its amazing how long the Coop has been going and he can still produce records that would put todays modern era of bands to shame. Whether you like your newer Brutal Plant, Dragontown Coop you will enjoy the hard hitting tracks of Vengeance is Mine, Catch Me If You Can, The One That Got Away and I am the Spider or whether your a fan of his old classic Schools Out, Love it to Death Cooper you will enjoy Feminine Side, Wrapped in Silk, I'm Hungry. Or if you are a fan of his ballads then you have two classics in Killed By Love and Salvation on here. There is really something for everyone here. Its a good solid album that you can enjoy from start to finish about an arachnophobic psychopath killer. Some of the lyrics are genius and funny as usual. IMO there are a couple of fillers (ish) songs on here in Wrapped in Silk and I'm Hungry. However what this guy does he makes a song good and then performs in his shows and makes the song memorable and I for one cant wait for what will probably be his most theatrical and gory tour yet in the Along Came a Spider tour. Make sure your there and have listened to this album 100 times so you know every word and can rock out with the greatest showman in the world. Alice for President Customer Rating: Summary: Welcome Back to My Nightmare Comment: Very much appreciated return to Alice's roots. Great, sneering vocals and the band sound tight, as they should for they are his established touring band. Vengance is Mine is the stand out track for me, Typical Slash guitar work and it makes the album worth the money on its own, and I feel sure that it will be included on the live setlist from now on. If enjoyed Brutal Planet, The Last Temptation and Welcome to my Nightmare, this is for you. I'm not going to breakdown each track in turn as this has already been done very well. It might be a bit heavy for some, which I can appreciate, but play it a few times and as with any good album you won't be bored.
