Everyone is familiar with Beethoven's symphonies, a few of his sonatas, and maybe an overture or two, but who has heard his versions of British folk songs? Would you be surprised to be thumbing through a catalogue of Beethoven music and be presented with "Norah of Balamagairy", "The Lovely Lass of Inverness", and "Paddy O'Rafferty"?
If you like Beethoven then this is a must-buy. If your only experience is what you've heard on the radio then you may be better off with smaller collections because Beethoven drew on a wide spread of musical styles. Some of it is difficult to listen to until you've acclimatised to it, but after that you'll probably grow to like it.
