Editorial Reviews:
During the run up to the biggest date change for, ooh, at least a thousand years, the Cream super-clubbing juggernaut continued its runaway success, careening out of Liverpool crammed with yet more club nights, superclub nights, international parties, festivals, merchandise and CDs: especially CDs--stuff like
Cream Anthems 2000
. True to form,
CA2K
is packed with the big-tuned evidence of just how good a clubbing year 1999 was: almost all 1999's many, many monster club anthems are present and correct, jostling for their three minutes in the non-stop mix. There's no DJ, mind you: this is a faceless, fiendish computer-style mix with no intention of taking you on a journey, rather, it simply packs in as many "TUNES!" (© gurners of the world) as the collection's two CDs will allow. There's Bedrock, DJ Jean, Binary Finary, Underworld, Basement Jaxx, Moloko, Paul "Get Get Down" Johnson, Orbital, that pesky Bob Marley tune (the Funkstar De Luxe remix of "The Sun is Shining"), Neneh Cherry's Dreem Teem collaboration and Sasha's awesome remix of the Chemical Brothers' "Out Of Control", every one a winner, every one a reminder of one spectacular clubbing year.

Very good for a boxed set like this-lots of nice uplifting trance-still sounds ok now which is unusual...

Winding up a great era
Comment:
This CD kind of signified the end of Trance (as well as the end of a little thing called a millenium) and as such was a good way to bow out. Or at least the first CD was anyway which with the exception of Alice Deejay (whatever did happen to her?) is a pretty peerless semi-commercial trance mix. Shame CD 2 is a bit all over the place taking in house (Brother Brown), the beginings of UK Garage (the surprisingly decent The Dream Team vs Neneh Cherry), Trance (the gorgeous Hybrid) cheese (Madison Avenue) and garbage (Mario Piu). Overall though nothing sums up 1999 and the anticipation of the Millenium better than this.

CD1 - Superb; CD2 - Pants
Comment:
It's great to know that the "B" side concept is not dead. You know, buy a single 'cos you like the song, have one listen to the "B" side, and never spin it again. Oh yes, the "B" side reads well, but it just pales next to the "A" side...but just as with old 7" singles, it's worth buying just for the one side...

the best trance mix cd you can buy
Comment:
this is an excellent mix for trance fans. I purchased it as soon as it was released. there are a mixture of popular tracks and ones which you have not heard before, but soon grow on you. Can't wait for the next release
