Editorial Reviews:
Y3K
is a 60-minute progressive breakbeat education. DJ Hyper takes the role of teacher, mixing together a varied selection of rare and exclusive tracks. These have been hand-picked to represent the whole progressive breaks curriculum, from lush and melodic to dark and moody, with a load of squelchy electro in between. The album kicks off with a succession of soaring, cinematic cuts from the likes of Way Out West and Slacker, before charging off on a tougher, darker tip. The New Skool Breaks brigade are well represented, with the likes of Rennie Pilgrim, T-Power and General Midi all contributing tight and punchy tracks. There's plenty of chunky electro, too, with stand out tracks from the Light, ILS and Hybrid. It's the latter that produce the album's one true moment of genius--a euphoric vocal number featuring BT and Opus 3's Kirsty Hawkshaw. This richly textured, uplifting classic sums up the progressive breaks ethos: that mood and melody are just as important as beats and breaks. --

Summary:
Wide appeal, very cool.
Comment:
This is an excellent compilation, the breadth of appeal is very wide; break-beat with influences ranging from Drum & Bass to House. If you like clubs like tyrant; and producers such as hybrid and bt then you'll probably like this.
