Summary: Astonishing
Comment: I alreay had a couple of CDMs and liked them, but when I heard this one I was hooked from the first bars of Jo Manji's opener. What a song, what an album! Ive now got almost all of the collections but this still shines above the rest. I think its the variety and musicianship which makes it such a tranfixing pleasure to listen to. Try it loud and on your best HiFi for maximum chill factor. I'll refund your money myself if you dont like it!

Summary: Not the same Cafe
Comment: I was eagerly awaiting this after being a fan from Volume 1 - but it's no longer compiled by Cafe del Mar resident Jose Padilla. Consequently Vol 9 has a very different sound to earlier editions.

It's fine as background chill music, but I found it otherwise pretty boring to listen to. All the tracks are passable, but none of them have any distinctive edge. None stand out as strong tracks in their own right.

A disappointment.

Summary: Still a regular on the stereo!!!
Comment: I brought this C.D. last year and loved it from the first time I played it. It stayed with me all through the summer and started me off on a cafe del mar quest, in search of cool music to chill to. It has been played regularly since and it always makes me smile!. The last track finishes the mix perfectly. Buy it, you won't regret you did, thanx bruno!

Summary: The best Cafe del Mar of the three I've heard. So relaxing!
Comment: This is a cool cool cool compilation. I absolutely love it. I've only had it a week but it has jumped to the top of my mellow-list.

It is quite different to the other two Cafe del Mar compos I've had before. The instrumentation seems more acoustic and vocal rather than electronic. (Possibly the word "acoustic" is wrong. What I mean is there are instruments apart from synthesizers that play an important part in a lot of the songs.) The whole thing stays mellow all the way through, and has a great unity of style. The songs flow into each other wonderfully.

Although it feels less "electronic" it still has the edge of electronic coolness, modernity and beats which makes ambient so enjoyable. It reminds me more of a smoother and cooler "Chilled Ibizia II" than a "Cafe del Mar" compilation. But don't let that put your off. If you didn't like "Chilled Ibizia II" then "Cafe del Mar 9" is sufficiently different to it to be worth checking out, since it is better mixed and chosen, and is more "acoustic" that Chilled Ibizia II.

I'm totally sold on this album. Well done Cafe del mar!
