Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Ministry bow out of the non-commercialism era with a bang! or half..... Comment: After such an amazing Ibiza Annual in 2000, I was looking forward to this one. I think it has its up and dwons though - mostly track selection. This was of course, the end of Judge Jules, Tall Paul, and all the other legends who mixed annuals to this date. Instead, computer mixing took over, and the albums just lost their charcater and style. Luckily, this annual doesnt suffer tooo badly.. but its not amazing either Cd1 takes the house approach - of course, a new angle to the annuals from now on, as a computer cannot mix house and trance songs together - the songs just wouldnt match correctly according to it. So a house theme is for disc 1, and possibly a little dissapointing. Unlike previous annuals, it doesnt have the ibiza feel to it. Probably, because the majority are not ibiza songs! But netherles, it does have a warm summery night feel to it, so its not a bad cd in that respect. Its only fault is that it doesnt truly reflect Ibiza. Cd2 though is much better. Starting perfectly with precious heart, the electric sounds really are a break from the commercialsm of cd1, and its back to basics with some real ibiza songs. The great thing is that the cd has character, and really does have a good flow of rythms that sound right, and it makes you feel you really are in ibiza, maybe on a beach, paryting, who knows! So, while really only one of the discs is worth the price, its still an album worth getting for cd2 alone. Just avoid MoS' attempt in 2002.... now that was a bad year for them in ALL their annuals!..... Customer Rating: Summary: A nice annual Comment: Bought this in a sale just expecting it to be like good not very good.But its got no rubbish tunes on at all some real baleric sound in the house dsic very good.Not forgetting the trance disc with alot classics like precious heart,castles in the sky and that wicked tune dance valley theme 2001 what a master.Check some other tunes which i never seen in any other mos album nice work ministry. Customer Rating: Summary: Hum - summer, sunshine and warm nights Comment: After listening to last years Ministry Ibiza Offering. All I can say is they have done it again , with an even better mix of summer tunes, ok so yes they are nearly all and in the most part very commercial, but isn't that the sound of the summer, sunshine and uplifting. Most of the tracks are repeated on the later released 2002 annual, but this one is a garage free zone Hurray!. Customer Rating: Summary: CD 1 = GOOD, CD 2 = NOT SO GOOD Comment: I rarely buy compilations but having had a great time in Ibiza this year I wanted a reminder of my holiday. I have to admit that I am not a fan of Hard House/Trance so I bought this CD knowing that CD2 would never leave its case. CD1 does not disappoint, it contains all this years Funky House anthems that could be heard daily on the island. The main problem, for me anyway, with buying a complilation is that there is always 1 tune that really annoys me (Romeo, Basement Jaxx). If you like both Hard House/Trance and Funky House and regularly buy complilations then you will probably rate this as a 5 star CD. Customer Rating: Summary: what a way to end the summer . . . Comment: in style of course with the ibiza annual! though this may be a cheesy release from MoS with its commerical choons it is a celebration of the summer gone by on the white island and the best summer tracks of the year so get it! it wouldnt be a an ibizan summer without it!!!
