Summary: Outstanding
Comment: Lee Burridge has been a mainstay of the tech house scene for many years. A pioneer of dirty, sleazy house that has placed him firmly in the hearts of the fabric crowd and made him a globally renowned dj.
Possibly the first thing one might say is that the Day Disk is perhaps more like what Lee would play at an afterparty. It will make you dance more than Danny Howells' first disk. Starting off beautifully with the filtered vocal of Logic Box's - No Title on Record. Burridge's uncompromising mixing is the highlight of this compilation. He is all about absolute effect, he isn't a dj who eases a mix in slowly, he bangs it out with full effect whilst maintaining the flow perfectly.
One of Lee's trademarks is his blend of breaks and 4/4 and we see it on these two disks. CD1 finishes with the emotive Deeper - By Rabbit in the Moon, one of the rarest and most beautiful breakbeat tracks ever written. CD2 also finishes with the superb breakbeat Alter Ego mix of Freakbox, one of the best tracks of this year.
CD2 is a perfect example of Lee's peaktime sets. He blends the funky and dirty sounds perfectly. From the first track, Sarah Jane Morris' - Ever Gonna Make It, remixed by Burridge's fabric colleague Terry Francis. The disk seamlessly flows into the firing breakbeat of Shake It! - Fyta & Ray Wilbern and the funky vocals of Be My Light. One of Burridge's great skills is his ability to fit different genres of house together.
As the night disk draws to a dramtic climax Lee begins to bring in the calypso drums of Steve Porter's Agent 001 guise, with the track Daniel Wiggy and the hypnotic groove of Central Park. This is a CD you will listen to over and over again. BUY IT!

Summary: Twisted Tyrant beats!
Comment: The second installment in the quite impressive 24:7 series is upon us. Where Danny Howells went for a downtempo/uptempo split for his compilation, Lee goes straight for the jugular and brings out a quality selection of techy house and breaks. And its a bloody stormer. Tyrant 2 was heading the list of my favourite housey doings, but Lee has surpassed even that wonderous comp with this.

The Day disc is home to deep tech and breaks sounds. Dubby, groovy house tempo, not pounding but definately danceable ... hell I'd be happy with this as my Night selection. The tracks on this disc are bloody wonderful too, The Logic Box starts off proceedings deep and cosmic style but you know you're in for a treat when the hypnotic bleeps of Rhythm Plate cut in over the top of Miguel Plasencia. Nice breaks come from Bushwacka's Plank stable in the form of Marsupial Ten Dances, anyone who's heard Low Life or Night Works should know the kinda perky breaks sound to expect here. Standout track by FAR is Phil's Science - Philemon. Should float the boat of ANY Orbital fan, wondeful Orbital synth stabs set to a wicked driving bassline. Need this track on vinyl for myself. Mixing throughout is grand too, tracks get dropped in perfect locations, melding two tunes together to create a wondeful mash of sounds.

The Night disc ramps up the tempo and toughness stakes in a very Fabric manner. Once again, starts off fairly deep with the sounds of Terry Francis and as soon as the bass of La Pierre Polie kicks in its 'cor blimey guv!' time again! Just brings back memories of grooving at Fabric. Twisted distorted beats, trippy vocals. Old skool Chicago rhythms clash against the mad trippy tech house sound. Again, so many standout tracks, Groove Like This sports a cracking warping bassline, the mad twinkling keys of Kenny Hawkes. The beats are fresh and crispy with a real danceable grit.

Different in ideas to Danny's compilation, equal in sheer quality. Brilliant new series from Global Underground, make sure you get both of them as soon as possible. Best house music in AGES.
