Summary: Great Mix
Comment: I hope the person below me is a woman because that's the most whining I've ever read on Amazon in my entire life. If I could find this guy id slap the taste out of his mouth. Anyways, buy the mix if you see it. Definitely a damn good live set.

Summary: Average at best = 2/5
Comment: There are stacks of Drum & Bass compilations out there, and to be honest the majority are as poor as this one. Andy C, Renegade Hardware, Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, ive tried them all believe me, and ended up only keeping 6/30! If its average then i dont see the point in keeping it. If its got those long, boring bits that go on for about 15 minutes, followed by one maybe two killer tracks and then another 15 minutes of boredom, for my money that just aint good enough. However, sometimes on the surface their can appear to be lots happening in a mix and there are no long boring bits whatsoever. But at the sacrifice of having a well put together mix, you are force to swallow sub-standard tracks, or tracks designed for a club. Andy C compilations(Nightlife and this) do this to good effect. If you were in a club and a nightlife cd was simply played to the crowd for the night, it would go down ok. Personally though I do not want to listen to a club mix when I'm at home, it just doesnt work at all. If I wanted that I would just go out dammit! I want something with more brains.

For me, I think nightclub style tunes should only be a small part of a compilation mix, sparingly used amongst a variety of other subgenres. Drum & Bass Arena compilations for example, have a damn good try at doing this and give their best to make varied, yet still high quality mixes. After those guys though, there aint a lot else to choose from and Im getting fed up buying mixes like this & the disgustingly overrated Nightlife series. Within 2 tracks of starting a cd like this and the nightlifes I tried, its obvious whats going to happen for the rest of the mix and it is so frustrating! Why is it a rarity to hear a mix compilation that takes twists, turns, surprises and take you on a journey of variety and discovery where you dont actually know what the next track is going to do to your brain? Hospital records, they go too far the other way, making repetitive beats with glimpses of pure genius on the odd tracks which gets washed over by the looped, samey beats.

Anyway the compilation. Its probably the worst opening to any mix ive ever heard and is like watching paint dry until No6 kicks in with the killer tune Adam F/MOP - Stand Clear, but then it goes back to sleep again for another whopping 7 tracks! Just before the end, we are treated to 2 good tracks in a row followed by some more looped rubbish to round things off. Disc 2, starts brilliantly with the Renegade classic twist em out, banging dillinja bass. Unfortunately the start of this killer tune has been grossly trimmed so well only get about 20 seconds anticipation building, shame it deserves so much more. Wait until track 5 for another descent tune. Now we're forced to listen to near enough house music for an astonishing 10 tracks! Again at the very end trys to make up for his misgivings, and throws in a lesser-liked dillinja tune with a couple of other half descent tunes to finish. So altogether let me get my bean counter out the cupboard and I can add up the good tracks......If I am being generous 8. If im not being generous I would say 4. Four proper quality tracks from a 2 disc compilation, are you kidding me?

Its not just the track selection though, the whole way it sounds/flows/feels is just average at best and has clearly not been put together with the same care as the nightlife series. But the nightlifes problem instead, is the weak tune selection which as I say is more suited to a night out but bores you to tears at home. Yet another dull sub standard compilation among all the others ive given rough reviews on amazon. However I have found a few that ive given 5/5 to which you might like too.

Summary: The Best Drum 'N' Bass Album in a long time!
Comment: The is one of, if not the best drum n bass albums i have heard in a very long time. The choice of tunes is excellent and no matter how many times you listen to it you can never get bored of it! I listen to it everyday!!!

It has got a mixture of old and new tunes and the mixing is wicked. I played this album to a couple of my mates who do not like drum n bass and they have completed changed their minds about the style of music. I have yet to find anyone who doesn't appreciate this album.

If you close your eyes and whack the stereo up full blast you feel like your at a proper rave. All i can say is 10 out of 10 for this one Andy C, its wicked!!!!!!!

Summary: Best Drum + Bass mix CD this year
Comment: This CD is simply outstanding! It is loaded with some of the freshest tracks that have been spun on dnb club nights up and down the country recently. The mixing is very tight as you would expect from the dark lord himself - Mr Andy C!

This album really is phenomenal. I have bought I lot of dnb mix CDs recently and this one is definitely the best. If you like your dnb dark, buy it!

Summary: Superbly Paced Drum & Bass
Comment: Here is a perfect example why there is only one executioner by the name of Andy C. His mixing is undisputed and as is always with Andy C sets, the sessions are beautifully paced.
From rowdy to ambient, and from funk to dark, it's got it all on this beautifully crafted compilation.

Tunes to look out for would include, Peshay's 'U Got Me Burning' - An outstanding variation on the equally outstanding 'Spaced Invader'. 'The Calling' by Tech Itch & Kemal and Sonic's 'Even When It Rains'. A bonus comes from, in my opinion, the greatest drum & bass artists alive, who go by the logo )EIB( (Bad Company), who's tune 'Snowcats', is a twisted, tickly, hugely enjoyable piece of work on the first CD.

Anyone who appreciates drum n bass for what it is, they will buy this compilation without hesitation.
