What went wrong?
Comment:
This has to be the worst Served Chilled in the series. The first two were amazing and the third was pretty good, but this is just horrible. There are some really bad tracks on this compilation, that upset the whole flow. This Is Not A Love Song by Nouvelle Vague for example. That song alone made me hate the whole cd.
I've never heard a chillout cd that annoyed me, but this one did! Stick with the first three and forget this album ever came out!

What can i say, fantastic. What i love about Kandi is that all their music is so diverse and unique, beautiful for all occasions, summer, driving, chilling out etc. Always waiting for the next cd, addictive!!!

Welcome back Hed Kandi Chill!
Comment:
It's been far too long since Hed Kandi did some Chillout collections, gone are the two collections a year? Lets hope that this return to the brighter side of chill is a sign that more regular releases are back. This collection is just right with a good balance between well-know tunes and the unusal golden nuggests Hed Kandi are known for finding. Would be a five star but they lose one for keeping us waiting so long!

Awful!
Comment:
Having brought many hed kandi CDs and noticed the decline since Mark left - I thought I'd give them a whirl again based on the other reviews here. I can only assume the other reviewers don't have the original Hed Kandi CDs for a comparison. I was very disappointed. This is one of the worst Hed Kandi CDs ever, the tracks are poor, many I've had on Ministry of Sound Chillout CDs years ago - hardly a cutting edge collection, the rest are mediocre at best, and certainly not worth paying for. This is sort of CD you'll hear in a shoe shop - save your money, and find something a bit more unique. Unless they get a decent mixer in soon, this brand will disappear.

.....and about time, too!
Comment:
Having absolutely slated Kandi for some of their output over the last year, I found this one a breath of fresh air. I agree with another reviewer who says that 'finally Kandi get it right'. Not only that, but it's (gulp, yes, I'm gonna say it....)the best of the series. Volumes 1 to 3 were great and were the foreunners of more commercial compilations from other labels - they started a trend and no mistake.
Served Chilled 2006 is a trailblazer too - great poolside vibes that change direction often enough to keep you interested. Second half of CD1 is a little more innovative and less safe than CD2, and some tracks wouldn't be out of place on a Winter Chill album. They definitely improve with each listen.
CD2 has more of an obvious Summery vibe. Must admit my heart sank a bit with the opener - Mancini's classic 'Lujon' - as you probably all know it's been on lots of mainstream compilations. Fantastic song but I've heard it so many times. Yet somehow it sets the scene for the rest of the disc and dovetails beautifully with the other choices. Watch out for an outrageous latin-vibe '(This Is Not)A Love Song' by Nouvelle Vague, originally by the Sex Pistols - Sid must be spinning in his grave, bless him.
So all in all a big, big hit with me and well deserving the 5* -my first for HK since Mark's departure. By the way, good to see he's raised the bar too with his excellent 'Beach Angel' CD. It's gonna be a long hot summer, and these albums are just perfect for chilling out with a beer or two. Highly recommended.
