A little experiment I think that SHOULD have stayed in the recording studio. Not the type of excellence one would expct from Mr Padilla Customer Rating: Summary: Disapointing Comment: After listening to Cafe del Mar for many years I thought I'd try this album by Jose Padilla as he was involved in some of the Cafe del Mar albums. However, I was sadly disappointed. There was a lack of sophistication and quality to the music which you find with Cafe del Mar. I did try hard to like it but I am afraid I just couldn't get excited about it. Saying that it is not bad, just not as engaging as Cafe del Mar can be when it is at its best. Perfect mix of eclectic beats and just the right amount of groove for a nice chilled out listen. Perfect for summer cruising, perfect for rainy winter indoors. A mix for all seasons. But WHY Jose Padilla... why didn't you just do a double disc like Cafe Solo!!? This is just not enough listening material for something so brillant. It's unbelievably cohesive, mixing the right choices of downtempo, yet catchy and laidback tunes... A perfect soundtrack for summer (or what's left of it).
