Summary: a fantastic contribution to the world of psytrance!
Comment: I have been listening to psy (or goa) trance for well over ten years now (in addition to other styles!) and can honestly say that this offering from John OO Fleming is fantastic. For many years Jon has produced/mixed/been at the forefront of good quality trance music, but often on the more "commercial" side - his reactivate mix cd from the 90's was totally awesome, and with these three cd's, he has demonstrated his fantastic ability to turn his hand to more "underground" trance referred to today as "psy". I've kind of listend to this collection in reverse order - the 3rd CD, produced with the digital blonde, is a guaranteed trance stompathon - very full on, lots of great sounds and melodies, a seriously good listen! The second CD has tracks from established psytrance producers such as the legendary tristan, alien project, human blue and lots by one of 00 fleming's favourites wizzy noise - again, a great collection of tunes ranging from proper underground sounds to more melodic (but never cheesey!) trance.
As for the first cd, well, I've only had a quick listen, but it sounds very promising, very smooth, very "early morning!"
Whilst these cd's are all very good, I think they also demonstrate the talent of jon 00 fleming really well - I just wonder when he'll be invited to play some of the more underground dance music festivals like the glade? I think its high time he did in order to demonstrate to the purists the sort of amazing dj sets he plays!
well done jon!

Summary: I didn't like it
Comment: Perhaps I should have read the reviews more carefully and tried to listen to it somewhere before buying, because it isn't what I was expecting and consequently I don't like it.

My experience with trance is limited. I bought Dave Pearce's 'Trance Anthems 2008', on a whim, and loved it. I thought 'I want more euphoric trance!', saw 'euphoria' in the title and all the stars and good reviews, I thought "winner!". How wrong was I...

I was very disappointed. I guess I should maybe be looking for "Euphoric Trance", rather than "Psy Trance Euphoria". I think they must be two different things. I hope so, because if they're not, I'm at a loss as to what to buy next!

Back to this set of cd's, I'll try and give some positives. The last CD is the best as it seems to be a bit more imaginitive. However, none of the CD's are my cup of tea. Personally, I need more variation, musicality and a climax to a track to enjoy it.

Summary: Magnificent Electronica Return
Comment: Back at the turn of the century (21st century that is) the Euphoria CD's came thick and fast, each one eagerly awaited to see what new tunes and mixes were on offer. Then it all started to go downhill - the trance became the same old tracks recycled (or popped down) along with more emphasis on garage, house and bass styles.

I lost interest and moved off to explore power/prog/symphonic Metal instead.

After seeing there was a new Euphoria Psy-Trance box set out and reading existing reviews on Amazon I decided to give it a try. I can report being pleasantly surprised that "Euphoria" is very much back on track with a return to Electronica and something more than crowd pleasing pap for under-age teens waving their light sticks at the disco. Psy-trance does not quite have the soaring keyboards and melodies of some of the earlier material but CD's 1 & 3 in particular flow very pleasantly and have many high points. Certainly for me all the music is new and it's nice to see the contribution from John Fleming as composer. Not quite Hans Zimmer but in a few years...who knows!

And is that a (synthesised) death growl I hear at the start of CD 3!

With a running time of some 4 hours in total, the compilation represents incredibly good value for money. Recommended.

Summary: Goin' back to Goa . . .
Comment: I don't know what it is - is it the arrival of the first few rays of sunshine - but dance music always sounds better in the summer. I had grown quite tired of "Trance" music as there was an awful lot of commercial type dross coming out but this set of CDs really does go back to the whole underground Goa scene as Mr Fleming states in his very informative sleeve notes. Some of my favourite Goa artistes like Astral Projection have moved over into this Psy Trance scene and this makes for some interesting listening. I urge anyone to listen to Wizzy Noise and Xerox and Illumination - absolutely wonderful.

Summary: First experience of Psy-Trance a good one!
Comment: My Musical Background: I grew up listening to lots of very early trance back when John '00' Fleming was just hitting the decks and the likes of Binary Finary and Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel were released (good times). I then moved on into the world of what became known as Trancecore/Freeform Hardcore which had some amazing years (Sharkey's mixes Bonkers 3 to 5) and finally emerged into the sound of Tiesto and Van Buuren's weekly radio mixes (chillin in my later years).

I had begun to tire a little bit of the very fluffy trance that you get from these big names (don't get me wrong, they play some absolute corkers too) and fancied something different. I spotted this album purely from the mix artist John '00' Fleming and having purchased his Progressive mixes on Euphoria back in the day and been impressed, was drawn in to take a closer look.

I have never listened to Psy-Trance before and had no idea what to expect but have been thoroughly pleased with these three CD's. All three mixes are excellent with pure driving trance and infectious bubbly bass with hypnotic rhythms. The `Full On' mix is perhaps not what I would call full on but then I do come from a world where 180 bpm tracks where common place :P

If you like your trance a little bit less fluffy, less vocals, yet lots of layered sounds and excellent production work then look no further.
