Comment:
rented this just out of curiosity , not being a big lover of horror but....thoroughly enjoyed it.
great soundtrack , well made ( this was a BIG surprise !) just felt it was a bit too o.t.t with some
of the violence . loved the end ( thelma & louise anyone ? ) all this & a cheap trick t-shirt ( this
gained it another 1/2 star in my humble opinion )

When Rob Zombie made 'House of 1000 corpses', there was little original about the plot or directing.
It was helped along by a surreal edge that kind of held the interest. Unfortunately comparing his
films to the classic slasher/exploitation flicks is like comparing his music to that of 'Black
Sabbath'. The original masters of the genre win hands down every time.
Now, for starters
there are some changes to characters/plot that don't mesh with the first film to which this is meant
to follow. This is meant to give a grittier edge, but I found it annoying. Secondly, the plot sides
the viewers with the bad guys. No problems there per se, it has been done before and with great
success (see 'Natural Born Killers', 'The Wild Bunch', 'From dusk til dawn'). Here it is attempted
with such lack of subtlety that I was willing the whole lot of them to be gunned down as quickly as
possible. As for the violence, I did not find it shocking or disturbing because again it was so
unsubtle and gratuitous, played without any originality that it quickly tires. However, lots of
people enjoyed it so as always, it's best to make up your own mind. Try doing so without parting
with money though. On a more positive note, Mr. Zombie's 'Halloween' remake is much more watchable.

First of all let me point out that although Devil's Rejects is technically a sequel to 1000 Corpses,
Rejects can be viewed on it's own without having seen 1000 Corpses. When I saw 1000 Corpses I
wasn't that impressed overall. It made little sense and wasn't very entertaining. I did however
like Zombie's style, or at least the style he was aiming for. For this reason, and due to a
positive review from Rodger Ebert, I bought this DVD. It's clear from the very start of this movie
that Zombie has looked at 1000 Corpses objectively and tried not to retread the same mistakes with
Rejects. His style is intact, but now it's clearer and in better context. There is a very clear
advancement in Zombie's talents between 1000 Corpses and Rejects. The gritty look from 1000 Corpses
is here but without the confusing camera movements and weird visuals. The script is much better,
acheiving both humour and disturbing brutality often at the same time. Captain Spalding hilariously
comandeering a woman's car is one of my favourite moments in the movie. The acting is good with not
a single hint of overacting. The soundtrack is fantastic and a real stand out aspect of this movie.
Zombie even throws in the classic Lynyrd Skynyrd song Free Bird. I recommend everyone to give this
film a go.

WOW!!!!!!
Comment:
Basically a sick film with no shortage of colour - predominantly blood red. It is certainly not the
sort I would watch normally, but I was eagre to see Diamond Dallas Page, and a great job he did
though he only had a small part. He and Danny Trejo excel as the bad good guys. A real mix up where
the guys who should be good are actually bad and the bad guys take on a Bonnie and Clyde personna -
sort of.
I concluded it was best not to think too much about it as it was confusing
enough.
Worth watching though with a wonderful soundtrack and an expression I will never
forget - " a 100% Alabama ass-kicking". I thought that was terrific- along the lines of "We need a
bigger boat".
Do give it a viewing. You will love it or hate it and will certainly not feel
that you have wasted your time.

Reject this!!!
Comment:
This is a bad movie...I mean a really bad movie.
Unlike other films of this type (& there are
a quite a few to pick from) this one puts you; the viewer, firmly on the side of the Rejects.
/>
Tobe Hooper's 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' was a similar film, but Hoopers' viewpoint is from
the victim's dire situations and places your sympathies accordingly!
But Devils
Rejects' viewpoint demands your sympathy for the bad guys. Sickly glorifying all the attrocities
without compromise.
Now please understand I ain't some vicars son! I love horror and
gore films (Having watched hundreds over the last 25 years; Including all the video nasties from the
80's), but this sick director seems to have found a way to show another side to gore films Leaving
you feeling abused and sickened.
There are people here; who have reviewed this film
favorably, fine!
Either they don't understand what mechanics are driving this film, or they
don't care...Me, I like my gore and horror films to have a bit more class! A thing Rob Zombie
obviously doesn't understand!
