Editorial Reviews: Transporter 2 knows what its audience wants and--like its title character--it delivers. This is a movie that has not only a fight choreographer but also a car stunt choreographer; a movie in which a female assassin wears nothing but a bra and panties because, presumably, additional clothing would be too cumbersome; a movie in which crashing through a concrete wall in order to leap over a four-lane street will not even rumple the hood of the hero's car; a movie in which a drunken supermodel, after her advances are chastely and gently rebuffed by the hero, says "Thanks for the respect--that's what I needed most"; a movie, in short, for those who liked the first Transporter but found it too subdued and character-driven.

Jason Statham (The Italian Job remake) reprises his role as Frank Martin, a perhaps overly diligent chauffer who will break bones if his duty is impeded. The sheer glee with which Transporter 2 casts aside logic, probability, and the laws of physics is infectious. If the sequence in which Frank flips his car upside-down in order to detach the bomb attached to his undercarriage doesn't reduce you to intoxicated giggles, well...you're watching the wrong movie. Transporter 2 is utterly shameless, unstoppably ridiculous, and completely enjoyable. Also featuring Amber Valetta (Hitch), Jason Flemyng (Snatch), and Matthew Modine. --Bret Fetzer

Summary: Looks good - but that's all there is to it!
Comment: The film opens with a fight scene which feels more ridiculous than impressive, but at least the main character seems to have been given some sort of personality since the first film.

Transporter 2 is a definite improvement but there are still a lot moments which exist purely to look good. There's nothing wrong with that of course - particularly in an action film, but when it's obvious, and there's nothing else to it, it just draws attention to the lack of substance.

This film has so much missing, but in the face of it all it manages to be actually quite enjoyable for the most part. It's very well directed and the car scenes are examples of perfect action cinematography - even if they are completely unbelievable. They may be implausible, but they're a riot to watch.

In a nutshell: This film is all about visual effects and physics defying stunts - and in those areas it excels. But without much else the film can never really be considered as anything other than average. I was pleased to see that Frank has a bit more depth to him, the dodgy accent is still there - but at least we get to see him smile once or twice.

Summary: Very clever
Comment: I've seen the first film a couple of times and thought that whilst it was OK and Jason Statham can just about act it was nothing special. I really wanted to hate this, but came away liking it quite a lot. The filmmakers knew what they wanted here. Its brainless entertainment with tongue firmly in cheek, and they know it....

In fact I enjoyed it more than the first film. The villianess in bra and panties, endless ridiculous car chases, fight sequences that have to be seen to be believed. Its all done with style, panache and a "don't care if this is not real" attitude that other films , that take themselves too seriously (i.e. Mission Impossible 3) could learn from.

So if you let it wash over you, you will have a entertaining hour and 3/4. Don't think about it just enjoy!

Summary: Great action
Comment: Whilst not going to win any oscars - this sequel is a treat for action fans, full of great cars stunts, great fights and of course pretty women.

Staham reprises his role as rent a courier Frank Martin, this time filling in for a friend, and transporting a young child to and from school.

The child is kidknapped, and before you can say Man on fire, Statham is out to rescue him.

Whilst not original (or if thought prevails - logical) in plot, this is a fast and diverting film that simply does not slow from the opening car park fight scene to the brilliant Audi verses Miami police cruisers car chase and a final fight showdown on a plunging private jet.

Granted the film relies on some bad logic, some even poorer CGI and a script that would not feel out of place in a B movie, but this film still delivers in the same way that the first one did - lots of stylish and expensive looking action - led by a ice cool lead.

Statham has grown into his part well, whilst the writers/director(s) and producers (too many names to mention in a small review - but the same ones responsible for the first Transporter movie and behind other Stahem projects) all know exactly what they are delivering - a fast furious and stylish action franchise, that side steps being saddled with long exposition and just gets on with entertaining the audience.

A great popcorn movie.

Summary: Of it'd type - very good.
Comment: I like the movie overall and of it's genre it's very good. Could someone get all the continuity right next time - I lost count of the edits where it doesn't match up. Really getting that right can't be that hard can it? Or are the producers happy with a botched job?

Summary: The Transporter, but gone off the rails a bit
Comment: Having thoroughly enjoyed The Transporter, I looked forward to seeing the sequel. But ultimately I was disappointed. This is The Transporter, but with added silliness, and that silliness is cranked right up to 11. Whilst the original film had a few fight scenes where you had to suspend your disbelief, it got away with it. In this one, the car chases, a very slickly done part of the first film, have just gone mad. In the first fifteen minutes there are at least two car stunts that just defy any kind of rational explanation, just jarringly silly. The action sequences carry this through all the way to the final dramatic denouement, which is again jaw-droppingly ridiculous. In the action genre such things aren't exactly out of the ordinary and so it's enjoyable enough hokum. If you're a Jason Statham fan then I'm sure you'll be reasonably satisified, but there are better action films out there and better Jason Statham films too.
