Summary: Bill Murray in a Christmas Carol!!!
Comment: My favourite actor and my favourite book/film combined, i may be biased but this is one of the best alternative Christmas films ever!! Deadpan Murray makes a great Scrooge. It brings a tear to my eye when he finally sees the error of his ways.

Comment: This is my favourite Christmas film of all time!! If you haven't seen this, you need to get it. It's perfect for sitting round with the family / or on your own at Christmas, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face!! 5 star - not sure what the other reviewer was watching!!

Summary: The best Xmas film in a long time!!
Comment: I can't believe anyone who doesn't like this film. Yes its shamelessly 80's but thats what is so good about it. It's Bill Murray at his best it's feelgood and doesn't try too hard to tick all the boxes unlike some more modern day attempts at Xmas entertainment. It's a classic 80's film and deserves its place on TV every Xmas. Its one of the few films that I can get my husband to sit through at Xmas and we still laugh at all the jokes.
I have finally succumbed and actually purchased the film just to safe guard against the day the PC brigade finally get anything Xmassy removed from TV altogether so that me and my family can always enjoy it!!

Summary: A classic Christmas movie
Comment: I was horrified to see Scrooged on amazon with only a 3 star rating, so I clicked on the item to check out what the reviewers had said. Unfortunately the overall rating had been pulled down dramatically by the rather grumpy review by what appears to be a genuine real life scrooge. This film is great. Bill Murry plays the part of a modern day scrooge beautifully with his deadpan humour and classic role of progressive personality transformation. The film can't take much credit for the overall storyline, but compared to the many other rather boring and overdone rewrites of the classic, this one stands at the top for its clever adaption and extremely comical approach. At the end of the day it wasn't trying to do justice to the original story, but create a funny, feel good movie that comes with the brilliant undertones and moral principles that Dickens was trying to convey, in a modern day setting with a great cast and hillarious script. I watch this film every time its on TV at Christmas and it always puts you in a great mood and into the Christmas spirit. Scrooged is definately in there with the all time classic Christmas movies, love it!

Summary: Pass me the sick bag
Comment: You know the story, but this version has a cast of comedy actors, for instance those from Police Academy, playing their usual characters but in a different role, all very low budget 1980's lack of imagination. Bill Murray played Bill Murray. And why do they refer to Charles Dickens' book Scrooge throughout? He never wrote a book called Scrooge for Chissakes!! It was "A Christmas Carol"!! Jeeeze.....
Anyway, this mean minded TV executive doesn't react at all to any of the ghosts until right at the end when he sees his coffin going into the furnace, so the only reaction in this version was concern for himself again!! He didn't acknowledge any thoughts for others at all, until right at the end when he stops the live production on TV, walks in front of the camera and with tears in his eyes announces to America, who are of course huddled around their TV sets enraptured, that the world is a great place and we should look after the poor etc etc. I sort of glazed over at this point as I was feeling my spaghetti bolognaise rising in my throat, but the final sugar coated sentimental straw was when the small boy who hadn't spoken for years since his father was killed, whispered to Bill Murray "And God bless every one of us". That was the part when I had to rush to the bathroom.
Sugar coated sentimental cheesy American rubbish at its very worst, lacking imagination and just a total bore.
80's films can be like 80's music sometimes and this is a perfect example of how bad things got.
Get Polar Express, White Christmas or It's A Wonderful Life instead.
Yukkk......
Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk!
