Comment: What a great buy!! 6 DVDs of facinating experiences for Bruce Parry the watcher... could not stop
watching and although I have seen some episodes before on TV, still found them utterly fantastic,
would definately recommend and cannot wait for the next box set! Well done Bruce and the team!!

Summary: Essential is an overrated term these days...
Comment: But this programme merits the accolade of 'essential viewing' if ever I saw one. I agree fully with
the reviewer who states that this is one of the best series of factual programme of the past decade,
if not the best. I simply cannot remember seeing anything as engrossing, informative and touching as
this for a long time, if ever. This series really needed to be made, and is a must have for any
armchair anthropologists out there.

Summary: Great series, finally out on dvd!
Comment: Finally finally this wonderfully weird, scary, funny, educational and extremely entertaining series
is out on dvd! I'd seen every single one of them and I never stopped being amazed by the fascinating
people Bruce Parry lives with for about a month. He's showing us all the things we'll probably
never get to see for ourselves, and cheerfully doing all the things we certainly never ever would
want to do ourselves! This series shows us a rare glimpse into the lives of very vulnerable peoples
that may not survive in our 21st century world very much longer. It's also showing us that people
are just people, wherever, whatever, whenever. They just want to live a quiet life, support their
families and give their children a good future too. I think that's an important message, wrapped up
in a highly entertaining package!

I give this dvd set 4 out of 5, only because I think
there's a lack of extra's. The only extra feature is Bruce Parry's first filmed expedition, and
though that was certainly interesting I expected a bit more like some commentaries or behind the
scenes footage.

Never mind, go buy it anyway!!

Summary: Subtitle info please
Comment: I am not here to make a review but to protest against Amazon's lack/ignorance for the deaf and hard
of hearing. I am almost considering setting web site for the purpose of this protest so others can
join.

My frustration is caused by this: I am into watching DVDs (films and
particularly documentaries). Being hard of hearing, I can only watch DVDs with English subtitles.
I have come to this site numerous times in the past months to buy new DVDs (Tribe (BBC documentary),
Battlefield series by Dan Snow and this item to name a few). None of these along with thousands of
other items say they or they don't have subtitles, therefore, I either have to buy to test them or
forget about watchiong them.

Is it too much to ask to put that simple piece of
information on the page? At least for BIG Amazon to show respect and understanding for the deaf?
Shame on you Amazon! shame on you.

Summary: Intelligent traveller brings wide world to our screens.
Comment: Bruce Parry is an ex Royal Marine who spends about a month with different tribes across the globe.
He immerses himself into the culture and lifestyle of each tribe; eating what they eat, learning
some of their language and participating in their rituals and sports. He has a keen eye for
observation and is articulate. The show is therefore interesting, captivating and funny. It is a
very rewarding show to watch.
