Summary: Absolute classic! loved it
Comment: I felt compelled to write a quick review when i saw the two not so good reviews above. These people really didn't get it! i am british and saw it on the plane coming back from a holiday in New Zealand. It is deliberately "cras". I think the whole plane was disturbed by mine and my partner's unstoppable laughter from under the headsets. On another note it's very "of it's time" what with all the talk of GM crops, sheep and other gene cloning. A dark anthropomorphic comedy horror and a clever little play on words. Highly recommended viewing.

Summary: do not expect much
Comment: This is another fine example of how to make a run of the mill movie.
On this occasion is set in New Zaeland and the monster are killing sheep, the acting is dreadful, spare the leading female who delivers a couple of good lines ( Kioto ! ) the rest of the actors sleep walk throughthe movie.

Weta worksrop provided all the special props and special effects making it enjoyable but the overall result is very diasappointing.

Please do not compare this to SHAUN OF THE DEAD ,SOTD is a thousand times better and has some proper acting in it.

This will make a fine rental for lovers of the genre , for the rest of us is best to stay away from this.

Summary: Bad in a good way
Comment: If you're looking for a serious horror flick, look elsewhere. This movie is all about parodying every other zombie / beast movie out there. The sheep take the killing role in this movie and do great. It's hilarious the things that happen and it has one of the funniest ending ever imo. Give it a go if you want to laugh your ass off.

Summary: Very funny and clever
Comment: I went to see this film in Leicester Sq last night and it was time very well spent. The whole cinema was erupting into laughter and other spontaneous reactions almost constantly.

Once again the Weta workshop have produced inventive and extreme effects which wont dissapoint you if you like a bit of gore. If you have seen Braindead or Bad Taste and enjoyed them, you will enjoy the humour in this film as well.

Theres no point analysing and reading too much into this film, its a brilliant splatter-fest, with a creative storyline, and a bit of kiwiana thrown in for good measure.

Summary: Possibly the worst film I've ever seen
Comment: Being a big fan of the classic "zom-com" Shaun of the Dead, I was quite looking forward to seeing 'Black Sheep' after hearing about it's apparently similar style to the British made comedy-horror masterpiece. Unfortunately, these film-makers from New Zealand don't have a clue when it comes to making a decent film as this was one of the worst I've ever seen.

The film begins on a remote farm in the hills of New Zealand where there has been genetic modification experiments taking place on the sheep. Two environmental rights activists then take matters into their own hands when one of them steals a container holding one of the modified lambs. Then when being chased by the scientists from the lab, the activist drops the container and the lamb escapes. The lambs then bites a few sheep turning them into zombies on the hunt for flesh.

The story does sound funny and sounds like one that could work (like Shaun of the Dead) but is pulled off so poorly it is just too ridiculous to enjoy. The acting is bad, the script is awful (there are hardly any funny bits at all), the zombie sheep get tiresome very quickly and the whole production is just terrible. To put into perspective how bad this film actually was - there were probably 100 - 120 people in the cinema watching it to start with but by about 30 minutes in there were only about 40 people left! I did manage to get to the end (despite not enjoying any of it) and really wish I hadn't bothered.

Overall 'Black Sheep' would definitely rank in my top 5 worst films of all time and is one that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I'd give it a minus score if I could.
