Summary: Dahrrling...you were marvelous
Comment: This is a beautifully scripted movie which is also a visual treat. Lovers of period drama linked to a story about the theatre will be pleased with this production. It has charm, is so theatrically camp, and to the most, acurate in its portrayal of the period. The claim that "Churchill had advocated that Hitler posed no threat to the world" being the one historical faux pas. Nevertheless, old romatics will find this a lovely way to while away a rainy afternoon, it has all the hallmarks of 1940's & 50's matinee love stories, with great soundtrack and characters that shine. You'll love it ...

Comment: I've seen zillions of movies in my life, but never one until this in which I've felt nothing whatsoever for any of the characters from start to finish. The cast may include a few old 'names', but the acting across the board is abomnable, and the direction is hopeless. I'd never before heard of the leading lady, Zoe Tapper, and it's easy to see why - though I gather she's doing well now. It's disconcerting that she's a doppleganger for Madonna, especially when in profile. I could feel zero chemistry between her and the leading men with whom she's supposed to be in a love triangle. Never understood how Andrew Lincoln became a successful actor - he's been awful in everything I've seen, and this is no exception. And, shallow is this may seem, Angelica Huston is so physically ugly I can't watch her. Some may claim Terence Stamp is the best thing in this film, but his is such a hammy old performance. And there simply are no good things about this film. It's truly terrible.
