Editorial Reviews: Here’s a challenge: name one action blockbuster trilogy of the last ten years that’s come close to matching the thrills and spills of the Bourne movies. Because this reviewer, and many others, can’t. There’s nothing that runs it even remotely close.

And it’s ironic too, given that the franchise kicked off with its weakest instalment. The Bourne Identity finds the title character (played by Matt Damon) without knowledge of who he is, yet with a whole host of deadly skills, and for two thirds of its running time is a strong and enjoyable action thriller. A muddled last act spoils it slightly, but fortunately, it brought in enough to convince the studio to pony up for a sequel.

What a sequel it is, too. The Bourne Supremacy is an electric, pulse-pounding second episode, as Bourne this time is forced to confront his identity issues again, after being framed for a murder he didn’t commit. It’s a compulsive game of cat and mouse with some superb moments, and it leaves you salivating for the concluding chapter.

That came in the shape of The Bourne Ultimatum, and this proves not only to be a terrific ending to the franchise, it’s also the best of the three films. The word relentless barely does it justice, but in terms of direction, staging and draw, it simply has had no big screen blockbuster equal in some years.

The end result is a trilogy that diligently tells a well-structured story, and injects it with fascinating characters, amazing set pieces and immense rewatch value. The Ultimate Bourne Collection simply demands to be seen and rewarded. And a fourth chapter wouldn’t do any harm, either… --Simon Brew

Summary: Great Value Vomit Fodder
Comment: Excellent 1st and 2nd film - I couldn't watch the 3rd film beyond 10 minutes as the idiot director thinks that hand held cameras operated by twitchy technicians makes the viewer think they are actually there. Well yes it does if you suffer from Parkinson's Disease and you like hiding behind Jason Bourne's left ear!. The constant zooming in and out of the actors left nostrils, and the panning up and down just made me want to up-chuck! If there was an alternative camera angle made available I would happily watch it - otherwise for me - it was just vomit fodder! Great Value Vomit Fodder for all 3 films though! Pity... I was looking forward to the 3rd part too!. I will now make sure that any movie made by director PAUL GREENGRASS will be avoided at all costs (especially to my lunch).

Summary: Better than James Bond
Comment: This series is brilliant, better than any James Bond film. No stupid gadets just one very fast and tough dude with hands and feet as weapons.

Summary: ATrilogy un-rivavled anywhere else!
Comment: These 3 films are some of the most enjoyable films i have ever watched, the storys suck you in from the get go! The balence of action, speed and covertness are spectacular and as a trilogy im suprised to say they are fluent throughout!

The storys well written and well prtrayed on the big screen! Matt damons plays a blinder as jason bourne and throught the three films his character becomes darker and more callous than before. perfect for the type of story.

Revenge against the corporation, finding himself in amongst jumbled memorys of a forgotton past and seeking retribution the only way he knows how Bourne is not only a killer but human his tact, wit and suprising skills of evasion are what makes these films not only a pleasure to watch but hard not to watch again straight after!!

This boxset is a welcome addition to my collection its frequently used and borrowed by many of my freinds and all say the same.... The films are fantastic!

Summary: Matt Damon - Born to play Bourne!
Comment: Having read and enjoyed the Robert Ludlum books of the same titles, I started watching these films with a degree of trepidation. Could they do justice to the complex plotlines and superb storytelling of Ludlum?

I then got confused as the story started to deviate significantly from the one in the books! Fortunately, I then found out that while the films used a few characters and some of the basic plots of the books, they were actually NEW stories. That was an absolute masterstroke by the film-makers as it enabled anyone who enjoyed the books to follow Bourne on even more adventures!

The character created by Ludlum is one of the all-time greats in the "spy" genre, and Matt Damon seemed born to play Bourne. He was absolutely perfect, and when I subsequently re-read the books, I actually had the Matt Damon character in mind!

The Bourne Identity was probably the weakest of the three films ... but that's more of a compliment to the "Supremacy" and "Ultimatum" rather than an indictment of the "Identity" itself.

It's somewhat refreshing to watch "old fashioned" thrillers that don't rely on ridiculous CGI effects, hi tech gadgetry or smug, wise-cracking heroes. As in the books, Bourne just gets on with the job, and he does it with ruthless efficiency ... and style! Again, testament to the character created by Ludlum, but also to Matt Damon himself. I shudder to think what these films would have been like with (for example) Tom Cruise or Bruce Willis playing the lead!

Overall, these are films you can watch again and again as everything just gels perfectly. Quite simply, the best films in their genre.

Summary: compulsive watching.
Comment: A really good buy for the price. It's full of action, just what I like, not the tame James Bond rubbish, and the storyline is very good. With my surround sound system it's really great to watch. If you haven't already got it, it's worth all the money. A good buy.
