Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Touching the Void Comment: This account is truly inspiring and touches every raw nerve you might expect. It is beautifully composed with an excellent musical score and answers many of the questions that people from this era have been asking themselves for a long time. The questions are answered by the only people who can, the men themselves. In an honest and open account of events, the astronauts overlay their personal emotions and experiences with those of the technical challenges encountered during the Apollo programme. This documentary places all of us in context and should become compulsory viewing in schools. Customer Rating: Summary: In the Shadow of the Moon DVD Review Comment: This is simply a fantastic film. The footage is awesome, the soundtrack incredible and of course it narrated by some of the 12 people who have actually walked on the moon. They come across as intelligent, humble, inspiring. This is simply a great DVD and whether you are interested in space exploration or not you will really enjoy, and be amazed by this true story.In The Shadow Of The Moon [2007] Customer Rating: Summary: Good but lacks something Comment: I have always been interested in the Apollo missions and really enjoyed this film when released. This is a great insight into the lives and thoughts of the Apollo astronauts. They come alive as real people. The feature length is just right. Not so good on the small screen at home! Be still a good buy for any Apollo fan. Customer Rating: Summary: Profoundly Beautiful Comment: I found this feature documentary to be an amazing compilation of mans journey of all journeys - to travel to the moon. For those who know little about the Apollo missions this is a great overview, beautifully put together with an easy pace. More importantly are the words from the astronauts themselves. They truly convey their experiences to the audience with deep conviction and passion. The political climate in the sixties and Kennedys astounding vision lay the foundations for this incredible feat to be realised within a decade. This is simply and profoundly awe inspiring. The film whizzes us through the background of the space race in the 60s, then dips in and out of the various key Apollo missions - lessening a sense of the timeline of events. The footage and interviews are all good, but if, like myself, you've read a decent book/seen other documentaries on the same subject, you won't really gain much insight. The film has re-kindled my interest, however, so I'm now going to check out the [12 hour] From The Earth To The Moon series. More Reviews
