Back to Spooks: Complete BBC Series 6 [2007]

Clean sweep needed
Comment:
I've been following Spooks from the start and season 6 is a decent enough season but more of the
characters need to be culled as they are getting a bit stale. Still, definitely one of the best spy
dramas around. At least it's not about some skinny twenty-something with big boobs kicking the
world's arse like most of what comes out of the US at the mo. .... not that there's anything wrong
with that mind you!

Spooks Season Six
Comment:
By far one of the best Spooks series since first aired on BBC 6 years ago (series 2 is still my
favourite series so far). What i love about this series is that as an audience you have to watch
each episode in order and the stories just keep on getting better and better.
I
thougght that after Tom, Zoe and Danny had gone spooks would lose its appeal but now with Adam, Jo
and Connie on the team spooks just keeps on going from strength to strength. I wonder how many more
twists and turns there will be in series 7? I look foward to seeing what happens next in one of the
most entertaining spy programmes currently shown on british tv.

Oh Dear
Comment:
First, a confession. I am an absolute Spooks addict. I rave about it to everyone I know, and
sometimes to people I don't know. I inflict it on my friends, and sometimes even convert them to my
way of thinking. So Series 6 was a massive disappointment for me. After teling so many people they
should watch it I tune in to a series with so little plausability and subtlety that *I* almost stop
watching it. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope that it would improve.
/>There is one positive side - the spooks themselves are pretty much as good as ever. Harry Pearce
remains my favourite TV character, and Ros is a close second. But I can't see how certain characters
are still around when it's pretty clear they're not fit for purpose, either as agents or as material
for the writers.
Overall it looks like the Spooks writers are trying to reach a larger
audience, but unfortunately one that doesn't care about credibility, and that's the series' biggest
problem.

We just had a Spook-a-Thon!!!!
Comment:
Living here in Australia, we tend to get things ages after the UK or US. Th ABC(our version of the
Beeb) still have not shown Spooks 6 yet it came out on DVD yesterday here!!So don't understand why
the UK is getting it in Oct?
Anyway..we had a bit of a Spook-a-thon and wow...its got good
again, after a lack lustre series 5. Having the one themed story has concentrated the writers
mind. They have done a grand job on this series.I'm not going to give anything away, but have not been
disapointed...apart from the lack of good bonus extras (on our release theres a couple of
commentaries and a quick behind the scenes)
apart from that...All Good

Lest we forget!
Comment:
Spooks is a series set in the fictional Section D of the real MI5. The action is packed into an
hour long episode without really ever letting up. So, just as a side point of reference, when the
US bought it and edited it down to 40 minutes (to fit in their hour slot with commercials) it really
is super-fast action packed.
Some reviewers on here are citing the BBC sloppily dealing
with issues on facist terrorism, as this seems to appear every series, well for a start, that is
down to KUDOS the production company in charge of the production, the BBC merely commission a
series. For a second, sadly, the let's-blow-everyone-to-kingdom-come-terrorism is still pretty much
in the focus of national security, and SPOOKS always tries to make the stories relevent.
/>One reviewer on here says that "no-one in their right mind would confuse SPOOKS with the real
MI5"...so I should think! It's a TV programme, if they were to show what REALLY goes on in MI5 when
dealing with issues like this, no one would watch. It's rather like confusing James Bond with the
real MI6 or a show like Big Brother with quality entertainment.
SPOOKS has never tried
be anything it's not. It's never tried to do anything but provide high-action, intelligent
story-lines that are some how relevent to the society we live in and indeed take a look at some of
the issues that the nation "have to deal with". It's all very clever, it's all very entertaining
(even the bits that scare the c**p out of you.) and the bottom line is this, SPOOKS succeeds where
others have failed, and the others have failed big time.
We all know that it is all
highly unlikely, that some of the situations are a little dubious and that never in a million years
would we really believe that a government organisation gets through a day without having to fill in
numerous requisition forms, in triplicate, before even leaving the office, but heck...that is why we
watch it...for entertainment, excitment and fun...not for a highly accurate portrayal of the Secret
Service...isn't it?!?
In conclusion, SPOOKS has continued to thrill audiences for six
series, and having a big continuous arc this series was inspired. I can think of worse ways of
spending ten hours and I would recommend this series anytime! Roll on season 7!
