Comment: I work at a cinema and i found this film boring. the acting isnt even really that good i wouldnt say
buy it as you will watch half of it turn it off and never watch it. it puts you to sleep the best
part is the music.

Comment: It seems no more needs to be said about this movie, with so many positive reviews here - Atonement
is everything people have been craving for in a British movie. It's sad, romantic, beautiful, and,
for once, success has never come so deservedly. All the actors - and I mean ALL of them - shine
throughout, though I feel Romola Garai has not received the praise she deserves for her performance
of arguably the most difficult stage in Briony's life.
Very well done, Mr Wright. Please don't
stop making movies.

Summary: absolutely breathtaking
Comment: This film is just unbelievable. I have never been a fan of period drama, but as a very big fan of
1940's and 50's look and image I gave this film a go.

I expected it to be boring at the
very least as I had heard very few reviews of it, and what I had heard was very average in response.
I watch up to 6 movies a week and it takes a lot to impress me, so I had no expectations.
/>Upon watching this film, you will feel a range of emotions from pity to anger and sadness to
expectancy and warmth. Though there could do with a little more prologue to explain the situation
prior, the main plot begins almost instantly as the film starts. I could not stop watching this
film, and to date it is the only film EVER to have successfully made me cry like a baby! The impact
of this film is so great and it leaves you wanting to see it all over again. Watch out for the scene
with the French soldier.. impecable acting, both touching and leaving you wanting to scream advice
and instruction at the characters onscreen!

Amazing. An ABSOLUTE must see.

Summary: Staggering
Comment: I really didn't know what to expect from this film before watching it, having never read or even
known the story of the book or read any reviews beforehand. After viewing I can genuinely say that
in my opinion it has been some time since a piece of cinema has had such an impact on me. The
narrative, visually, structurally, and emotionally the story and the way it was captured by Joe
Wright and the cast was exceptional. I really can;t recommend this film highly enough.

Summary: a bit of advice before watching this film
Comment: From the beginning of this film to the end there is no consistency.

When Robbie tells
Cecilia that she looks the same after not seeing her for 3 and a half years, that's because she does
look the same. She even has the same haircut. Robbie also is ageless. In four years he manages to
grow some stubble.

I would love to make millions of comments about how bad this film
is, and why it is so, using words like "narrative" "cliche' " "heavy-handed" "badly-cast"
"fan-service" but I don't need to use any of them.

This movie is a misery to watch...
the music is awful and inappropriate.

There are only two reasons that make the sheep
in all of us enjoy this film:

1/ they have read the book and actually know the story
before-hand, turning the film into a series of visually pleasing memories from the novel. They
already know the characters and the relationships and bring them to the film, because the film
certainly does not bring them to the viewer.

2/ they enjoy feeling miserable because
their lives are so easy that any kind of struggle (including watching horrible bad films) adds some
variety and difference to their life. However, most people can't tell the difference between an
emotionally sad story and an emotionally sad film-watching experience. I was sad during this film
because it is a bad film.

so, if you liked "Babel" and "Hard Candy" then you should
enjoy this film. If you don't like rubbish, then avoid this piece of trash with all of your powers.
