Summary: Worst of the first 3 saw movies
Comment: Saw I was a great movie. It was well written and had a brilliant plot with completely unexpected twists (the last scene). The gore just allowed you to be even more shocked.
Saw II was terrible in comparison. In this movie, gore has become a major feature, and has almost taken over the plot. It still provides you with a number of decent plot twists, but nothing compared to the original.
This film is absolutely ****. The plot is completely pushed aside by the need to make this film as gory, as bloody and as shocking as possible. This has completely destroyed what was brilliant about the first movie, the 'twists' in this movie are almost laughable and the 'traps' are not even slightly inventive. They are not traps for one, and as i have said before, they just want to be as gory as possible. This is a bad movie.

Summary: One of the best entries in the Saw series
Comment: Saw 3 is, in my opinion the best entry (to date) in the Saw series. This film ties up alot of the loose ends left from the first two Saw films. This dvd is the "directors cut" and features footage not seen in the cinema or the previous "extreme edition". The new scenes include Jigsaw making a tape and coating it in wax (leading to Saw 4) and lynn attempting to escape and fighting with Amanda, the notorious rack scene is also longer. This leads to my one complaint with the dvd releases - firstly an "extreme edition" is released and then a longer "directors cut" is released. Why not issue both versions in a double disk set ? It would avoid people having to decide whether to upgrade to the longer version. The special features are up to the usual high standard and well worth checking out.

Saw 3 moves at a terrific pace with some of the goriest "traps" yet - the wrotten pigs heads and the rack were particually gross. Tobin Bell once again gives an excellent performance as John aka Jigsaw and it's nice to see more of Amanda. At the time they made the film I am not sure if there was going to be a Saw 4, this film wrapped everything up nicely, but in the end I am glad they made Saw 4 and am looking forward to Saw 5.

Summary: directors cut
Comment: i think this entry of the saw series is good because it helps tie up a lot of loose ends from saw 1 and 2 in a series of flashbacks. Aind if you like your horror very very gory then buy this in directors cut because it is about 10 minutes longer than the other edition. A lot of extra scenes of flashbacks and the gore in traps has been increased. at the end of this film you will wonder how they managed to make more saw sequels but thats all just part of the puzzle!!! good film

Summary: Essential For Any Self Respecting Saw Buff
Comment: My favourite in the series so far. Mainly because it links the previous films together and ties up loose ends so well.

The Directors Cut extends the main film to just under 2 hours. New scenes include Lynn's attempted escape from Jigsaws lair and the ensuing brawl with Amanda. The torture scenes are also extended, the rack in particular providing some stomach-churning extended clips.
Also, we see Jigsaw preparing the tape which is discovered during his autopsy in the opening of Saw IV. Small details; but for Saw buffs, it provides more intricacies that elevate the Saw films above the usual horror dross.
