Summary: Who cares about needing to suspend belief in reality? This film is amazing.
Comment: True - its a fantasy fairytale, but it is also unbelievably beautiful. There isn't any way to
adequately describe it's effect because it acts directly upon your emotions and can veer between
darkness and light, sadness and joy, hope and despair, loss and discovery, all within a matter of
seconds. But if ever a DVD deserved - no NEEDED - an extra features section showing how the
incredible music tracks were conceived and created, then this film is it. That is the only flaw in
this otherwise perfect release.

Summary: Almost the worst film I have ever sat through
Comment: The only person who could enjoy this film would be someone who could completely suspend all belief
in reality. The story is so far fetched that it is laughable. It draws from various sources not
least of which is Oliver Twist, with Robin Williams in the role of Fagin. I have read some of the
reviews which praise the film and I am frankly amazed. I have seen worse films but am struggling to
name them !!!!

Summary: The beauty of this movie is everywhere, you only have to appreciate it!!!
Comment: Every once in a while a truly beautiful movie comes along that somehow blows you away to another
world and gives you reason to hope in the impossible. That was my exact experience with this
fantastic movie.

I was shocked to read that many critics gave this movie a good
slating. I fail to understand how anyone can find fault with this movie. True to an extent the story
is unrealistic and almost verging on the supernatural but why this should be a reason to fault a
movie is beyond me. Look at movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. They're what you'd call
complete fantasy and yet they are praised for the worlds they create.

The story may be
simple but the simplicity of this movie is what makes it so appealing. The fact that this simple,
innocent sotry of a young child hoping to communicate with his lost parents through his music
despite the adversaries he faces is naturally endearing and bound to melt the coldest of hearts. Add
to this a thought-provoking script and excellent acting and what more can you ask for? Freddie
Highmore as young August Rush must be singled out for praise as despite not having much to say he
manages to bring out the depth of his passion for music across so clearly. Keri Russell and Jonathan
Rhys Meyers are equally brilliant as the parents managing to build up a very convincing chemistry
despite having very little scenes together, while it is interesting to see Robin Williams play a
slightly bad character for a change.

If I had to be overly picky about this movie I'd
say that the music wasn't as outstanding as I'd hoped. Don't get me wrong there are some very good
pieces (praise must be given to Jonathan Rhys Meyers who performs his own songs)but I just felt the
music wasn't as catchy as I hoped it would have been especially in a movie where music is to the
fore. Perhaps this is more a personal preference than anything else.

To conclude I'd
highly recommend this movie for anyone really especially families. Let your mind go with the story
and you'll be surprised how much you'll enjoy this little gem. Indeed you might even become inspired
to take up an instrument.

Summary: Need to watch all the way through
Comment: I have never written a review before, but I couldn't help myself after watching this film. />
True, it does start out slow, but the middle and the end completely make up for it. It is
wholly entrancing and it's such a joy to be able to forget reality for a moment and just believe in
the fairytale. (Completely corny I know, but it seems to work for this film.)

I thought
maybe it would just be for girls, but about 10 minutes in to my second viewing, my 15 year old
brother wandered in and surprised me with getting extremeley involved in the film. I don't think
I've seen him watch anything other than action films for a good many years, yet he (like me) was on
his feet at the end, cheering on the characters.

Do not judge this film until you have
watched it all the way through!

Summary: It touched my heart...
Comment: This film was beautiful!
The music, the storyline and the struggle of finding to his parents
is just...beautiful and I cannot rave it enough!
The way August Rush hears music in everything
and the pull that the music has in bringing them together is heart warming and just lovely!
