Summary:
I loved this film: and I'm a cynical old f..t!
Comment:
Really, truly enjoyed this film. It is smaltzy but what the hell; it's a great yarn, good fun, and
takes your mind of so many bad things around at the moment. And in my mind that is what film does
best of all: cracking good entertainment and some healthy escape from reality. Oh - and forget about
the Irish guys (I am Northern Irish by the way) the women in this are all fantastic.

Very close to one star.

I would like to start by saying I have no problem with "Chick Flicks". It is nothing to do with me
being male that I didn't really care for this film. I have many of this type of film in my dvd
collection. I have not read the book either, so I thought I would probably like it, as I didn't have
anything to compare it to. Sadly, I was wrong. I am a big fan of Hilary Swank, (particularly million
dollar baby) but felt this was one of her weaker performances. I didn't see any real chemistry with
any of the characters in the film. I also didn't really think much of Gerard Butlers performance
either, and this has nothing to do with any possible bad accents. I guess overall, I just didn't
care about the characters, and once that is the case, a film has just lost me. However, I do know
alot of people who have this film on dvd and love it, so it is all personal taste.

very very disappointing
Comment:
after reading the book and falling head over heels for it i was bursting from excitment when i heard
a film was being made.
however my bubble has been well and truly burst!!!!!!
/>everything about this film was wrong. the only part that i could relate to the book was that gerry
died, apart from that it had a completely different story line.
The accents were laughable,
i don't understand why good irish actors weren't cast and the good ole irish charm and humour
injected into it.
i feel if i hadn't read the book i might have enjoyed it but Ceceilia Adhern
should be embarrassed that this poor effort is portraying her spectacular novel!!!!!!

Rubbish
Comment:
I wish there was a 0 on the scale for reviews - this is really one of the worst movies I've ever
seen. I really like chick-flicks and have seen tons so thought this would be good. I love the idea
of the movie but the acting is shockingly bad. Butler's accent is rotten and there is not a hint of
chemistry between him and Swank which means you don't really care much when he dies.
/>The story is great and with better acting this could have been an amazing movie but sadly no. One
to be avoided at all costs.

Comment:
It is truely a waste of time watching this film, it is awful! I'm sorry, but I have lost someone, I
watched my fiancee die from leukaemia and finally lost him when I was only 22. Now at 26 having
become involved with someone else, I have found out that he has cancer.Grief is nothing like what is
depicted in this film, How anyone could even think of writing a book and making a movie aboout the
death of a persons partner, and portraying it in a light hearted chick flick comedy way is totally
beyond me. I just hope that A'hearne never has to go through what I have. This film just made me
angry!
