Summary: Just Plain Awful
Comment: Knowing that this movie came, at least partially, from the same stable that brought us the Scary Movie franchise and the Date Movie effort, I knew exactly what to expect in terms of content.

From the very beginning of the film you're subjected to ham-fisted pop culture references and "gross out" vomit and sex scenes which the earlier fims set the standard for. Now let me just get this straight, I love all the above when it's done well, think Superbad as a recent example, but sadly Meet the Spartans fails to be funny, AT ALL.

It's just plain awful, there's really no need to describe in detail why!

The jokes are none existent.

The script is shockingly bad.

Put simply, this film is a triumph of marketing over film-making. I've been an Amazon member for years but never have I felt compelled to warn people away from a film as I have after sitting, entirely unentertained, through such a piece of garbage as this.

Of course I understand that humour is a subjective thing and everyone has their own view on that, but seriously, if you find this as funny as some of the other reviews have suggested, consider medication.

Avoid. AT ALL COSTS!

Summary: Because they won't let me give it zero stars
Comment: Every so often there comes a film which so lacks entertainment value that you want to go back to the box office and demand a refund, defacing the posters on your way out. This film could be one of those ones if it were twice as good as it is.

I don't expect ever to have to suffer a movie so misconceived, so poorly written or acted, so utterly dreadful as this. Never has the public's taste been so woefully underestimated.

I'll own up now. I don't own this DVD, although I have watched the film. I wish I hadn't, of course. I'm only posting this review in the hope that it might prevent others from unwittingly purchasing this pitiful piece of rubbish. You have been warned.

Comment: Hey this is a fun film - so what if it's not intellectually challenging? Great laugh to watch on a Saturday night and, what's more Sean Maguire looks so HOT!

Comment:
Totally agree with you G. Cooper. ZakkWylde how can you review a film without seeing it. Both me and my son went to see MEET THE SPARTANS, it was so funny. Will be buying it on DVD. It's the sort of film that you can put on when you are feeling down and escape for a while. Take care.
