Summary: Excellent film, interesting version, OK transfer
Comment: I enjoyed this version of T2, as I hadn't seen it before. It has some interesting extra footage that I wasn't expecting at all but which really adds to the story. The picture didn't initially impress me that much (I think I'd watched it back to back with Wall-E though... :) but stood up to sustained scrutiny. There's more details in the eyes, the faces, and the landscapes. The overall look is rather grainy, but I imagine this is simply how it was filmed. A good comparison is at the end in the steel mill, where you can see Sarah Connor's individual hairs, although her face is a bit oversaturated and washed out. Again I think director/cinematographer's choices rather than a poor transfer because it is very sharp in places. I was surprised but not too bothered by the lack of extras - except for the seeming complete lack of subtitles, which is very odd!

Summary: poor value for money
Comment: This is the Director's extended cut ... well that's a surprise because there are absolutely NO extras whatsoever, which could have been pressed on the disk in standard definition at no extra cost.

I compared the picture against my "Ultimate Edition" DVD and found minimal improvement on my 50" HD Plasma, although to some extent this may be because of the excellent Panasonic BMP-BD 35 player.

Don't waste your money if you have the DVD!

The film of course is excellent.

Summary: What World are some people Living on?
Comment: I bought this, because i like the film and it was the extended edition, which i find far more satisfying than the theatrical edition. If it had been the theatrical edition i wouldn't have touched it.

The main principle of blu ray is better picture, better sound, which is achieved here.

If you only buy films for extras Stick with the DVD,

but if like me you just love the film ,then this is top notch.

for people to say the picture is no better than an upscaled DVD is a joke, I watched the DVD version and the picture is shocking, one of the worst DVD transfers I think I've seen, its only because I bought a bigger TV that i've come to notice these things otherwise I probably would've agreed it is no better. The sound is superb, but then again it always has been, Its a brilliantly sound designed film. and with the DVD offering a choice of sound options it is pretty hard to top.

The blu ray picture is impressive, its not perfect, but i don't think i've seen any film thats older than say 5 years that is. it is the best i've seen this film look by a long shot.

The sound is just amazing thats all i can say, it truly is ear orgasm material, it is an improvment over the DVD , alot cleaner and more thump to it. my only complaint is there isn't a 6.1 or 7.1 channel.

As for Extras, is i previously stated, i bought this because of the film, i've seen enough making of's special effect specials, script comparisons etc over time. i don't think there is anything that hasn't been said already, and is there much left unsaid? i very much Doubt it.

Summary: Avoid at all costs!!
Comment: If you have the standard def T2, you have this. Also, if you have the standard def T2, you will have special features, which this doesn't.
It is a total con, try and avoid these Optimum Blu Ray releases, I bought this and Total Recall and they do not seem to be any different from the standard def editions, apart from the fact that the special features are gone and now you get zip.
I seem to be reading the same reviews every time for these Optimum releases, avoid!
