I would have more fun banging two spoons together
Comment:
Utterly disgusted with this unit. Not worthy of a MINUS 1 star! Heed the warnings here people.
I have now destroyed this unit using my kitchen food blender and derived much, much pleasure from doing so. It brought small tears of joy to watch it to total destruction.

Polaroid Freescape MPU-43315B - 4.3" Portable Media Player - 60 GB HDD - Gloss Black
This is quite interesting reading. All the positive feedback seems to be from the girls! Really get the impression the guys don't like to read the instructions. No problem here. Why all this video conversion business? WMP11 does it for you but ofcourse you all know that after a good read.

I bought this media player for my commute to work and its great. It's simple and easy to use. Uploading videos is straightforward and it runs all of the video formats that I have wanted to download - so far I haven't experienced the problems the other reviewers seem to have. The quality of the picture is good for a portable device. It's made my commute bearable anyway!!

Listen to them, idiot!

I read all of the reviews on this product but decided that all I wanted was an MP3 anyway so £80 for 60 GB seemed a great deal, however:-
Video: Can hold 120 Hrs recordable Video - If you can work out how to install them
Supports DivX 4, 5 & 6 - Not without a degree in Media Player it doesn't
Audio: Can hold 15K Audio tracks - ? so what
Also displays album artwork (if available) - Not often the correct one though
FM Radio built in - if you live next to a transmitter!
E-music promotion - 35 Free downloads - rubbish, all old or crap
Advance features: Wi-Fi Capable - Capable of what exactly? Doesn't work.
Can download Podcasts (Audio) - oh no it can't
16 Hrs Audio Battery life - Mine was dead within 5 hours
4.5 Hrs Video life
Battery is replaceable - luckily so is the Freescape!!!
Read the reviews guys, this is a rip off (why are Amazon allowing it?)

Could have been a contender!

Now I had high hopes for this gadget and thought of it as a replacement for my beloved Grundig PMP player, which despite some bugs, I adored. I mean, 60gb of storage, what's not to like?
Anyway, it looks good, and music files transfer quite well and sound good, as does the radio. Photos display well and are quite well defined. Podcasts are downloadable via wifi which is pretty neat too, but the manipulation and downloading of video files is a complete muddle. For a start, there is no software bundle included in the package and hence no dedicated video conversion software. The manual just mutters something about using the latest Windows Media Player to transfer your video files. Well I've tried and Windows Media Player doesn't want to play ball. Now I'm no techno geek, and I'm not a slouch either but video tranfer on this gizmo is so frustrating, you feel like testing its aerodynamic brick properties by chucking it out of the window.
The only way I could load videos was by using converted files from my Iriver B20 but they weren't exactly perfect.
I contacted Polaroid's support site but I'm still waiting for a reply!
Thanks to a previous reviewer on here, I now know the specs for video files which the gadget will tolerate and I'll use a conversion programme from the internet and try that way, so watch this space.
However that is not the point:
Polaroid should be more specific about video file transfer - that's why I really bought it.
If they are sincere about support then they should answer queries AND keep the website up to date with firmware updates and hints and tips.
Otherwise I will continue to believe that it's the Grundig story all over again, a reasonable product let down by the manufacturer's indifference once it hit the shelves.
The drastic price cut speaks volumes - Polaroid are you listening?
