Editorial Reviews:
The sound of perfection. The ZEN X-Fi has been designed by Creative's audio experts to deliver the pleasure of pure music listening. Inside its stylish, glossy case we've added Xtreme Fidelity technology, which restores crystal clarity to your MP3s and takes all your music to a higher level. To help you get the most from this amazing player we have included top-quality in-ear earphones. The 8GB storage will hold as many as 4,000 songs* and the SD card slot adds extra capacity. The ZEN X-Fi has a large, full-colour screen to let you enjoy videos and photos, and a built-in speaker so you can share your music. With a built-in FM radio and voice recorder for extra versatility, this is a fantastic player for anyone who puts audio quality first. *Based on four-minute tracks at 64kbps in WMA.

Best MP3 Player I found in ages
Comment:
This has got to be the best MP3 player I found in ages. I did a bit of research first to upgrade from my Sony 6gb NW-A1000.
This one had so many more features and just seem to make sense based on the price. One thing I was not sure of was the price, but I am glad that I bought it now.
The unit is very well put together and operation using the buttons on front are very easy to use. The menu system is simple and allows you to get to things real fast.
The headphones are of a good quality and at this point I have not needed to replace them with anything more expensive which may or may not given me better sound.
Loading Music onto it was also important to me. I work with computers day in and day out but still I like things to be simple and intuitive, and Not requiring you to load all sorts of silly software.
So lucky here, you can load the software that comes with it (which you may need to do if you want to put any Videos on it) or, if like me you are using Vista and Window Media player, just plug it in, let Windows find it and then click on Sync and away it goes. After a short while all your music is on your Xen.
This I like as I like to keep my music in MP3 format for maximum portability and not have them coded into some other format that just works on that device (Apple & iPods!!)

External speakers
Comment:
Has anyone had experience of using the Creative Zen X-Fi 8Gb with external speakers. My wife wishes to use speakers in a dance studio with disabled people and ideally requires remote use.

Same review for two models?
Comment:
Am thinking of buying a Zen X-fi8GB so I browse the different models and also look at the customer reviews and what do I find? The same review for the 8GB as the 16GB. This makes me feel that the whole purpose of a customer review loses its credibility. It gives me absolutely no confidence. What I want from a customer review is a good and honest opinion about that one particular model.

Terrible compared to my zen
Comment:
I have a creative zen 8gb it is amazing easy to use, excellent pic quality and the sound is really good too. Well my dad bought an 8gb X-fi and asked me to put some films on it for him firstly i couldn't work out how to do this and had to look for instructions on the net and secondly it took ages, the software i use for the zen uses DIVX convertor and is really quick you just select the films you want from a list and thats it.
The X-fi when you try and choose the folder the films are in it takes ages to show any i have 200 in the folder for some reason it trys to load them all up into its own window, so i had to cut and paste a few onto the desktop and then try, it still took 20mins for 3 films just to show them then when i chose them for transfer it took nearly 2 hours to convert and transfer onto the player this is stupid on my zen i can do 10 films in an hour.
So if i was you i would but the zen for less and get alot more luck with it and not spend your whole day loading stuff onto it.

better sound than the new 4th generation i-pod
Comment:
like lots of the other reviewers ive done plenty of research reviews etc etc on mp3 players all im really after is a good sound quality for my music on mp3 i wittled it down to the new 4th generation i-pod and the creative zen 8gb x-fi i went for the x-fi and i made the right choice i got my daughters 3rd generation i-pod and borrowed my sisters new 4th generation i-pod and compared the sound quality etc etc to the x-fi the i-pods are smaller in size and the controls are i think easier to maneuver than the buttons on the x-fi but that's just my opinion neither come with chargers when your paying this sort of money they should come with chargers but you can get one for your x-fi for about £5 including postage from amazon i did and it works spot on and a skin to for about £9 from amazon to protect your x-fi i tried the creative centrale software that comes with your x-fi and windows media player both worked fine but i prepared the windows media player as it synced the music alot faster but each to there own the sound quality on the x-fi was far better then the 2 i-pods on various sound settings and you get an equaliser you can set yourself on the x-fi which i prefare you dont on the i-pods the x-fi crystalizer and the x-fi expand settings didnt do anything for me so i dont use them the supplied earphones are great for clarity of music but even with bass boost + equaliser settings up for the bass i found the bass to weak for my personal taste still better then the crap you get with the i-pods and i did use the differant earphones with the x-fi + i-pods when i tested the sound quality i prefared using my skulcandy earphones the bass was very powerfull with those on i had to turn the bass settings down a bit theres plenty of options with the x-fi for sound settings i been playing around with the settings a couple of days now and ive got the sound quality spot on for my taste and at the moment you can get the 8gb x-fi for £74.05 from amazon a bargain when you consider what you will pay for an i-pod 5 star cretive zen 8gb x-fi glad i got one
