Customer Rating: Summary: Some wooden musicComment: Nice to see Neil back in acoustic mode! The bulk of the material is from "Silver and Gold"and he comes up with a few gems, the brilliant "Slowpoke"which isn't heard very often and also "Philadelphia" which is a nice surprise! One of the stand out tracks is "Long may you run"with Neil on organ and harmonica.I would say this DVD is on a par with the "Unplugged " concert,Neil at his brilliant best.If you like his milder, reflective side, this is for you!Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Solo Life Session of the same titled AlbumComment: Although the DVD contains some older songs as well (Philadelphia, Harvest Moon, Long may you run), most of the songs on this acoustic life session are from the same titled studio album. The latter certainly one of his best latest, definitely superior to Harvest Moon, though conceptually much similar. As the songs in this life session sound very much the same as on the studio album (where Neil was, contrary to the recording on the DVD, assisted by some of his friends), this DVD confirms the idea that not much re-mixing or re-taking was done or needed for the studio album. Though not as charming as e.g. his early BBC session, this DVD certainly proves Neil is still there, playing true songs his own way. A must for the fans, a nice introduction for those who want to hear more than Rockin' in a free world. Rather Silver than Gold.
