sinatra a man and his music part 2
Comment:
Putting the dated concept aside. Here was a man who could hold a note for longer than most could hold their breath. His performance of Moonlight in Vermont demonstrates a man at the peak of his powers. The whole set up from start to finish shows a quality sadly lacking in a lot of shows today. The whole show can only be further enhanced by DVD technology. A pleasure to see and hear.

A must for any Sinatra fan
Comment:
Of all the Sinatra DVDs recently released this is, in my opinion, the best. His performance of Moonlight in Vermont is worth the price on its own, but Sinatra was on top form throughout. The setting of the first segment gives a feel for what a Sinatra studio session was like and his duets with daughter Nancy are fun and touching. The ballad/torch song section is inevitably excellent, while he completes the show, as usual, with a nighclub-style run through a number of favourites including My Kind of Town and Luck Be a Lady. Anyone who has seen his St Louis Rat Pack version of Luck Be A Lady will agree that it is the definitive one, but this comes close. He is backed by Nelson Riddle and Gordon Jenkins and their superb orchestras. The DVD reproduction is superior and it's a delight to have this show in the format.
