Customer Rating: Summary: Watch it but dont believe it......Comment: For all fans of the Pistols, & punk generally, this is a great peace of fiction based on the Pistols story told by a man with an ego he would like to believe is the biggest!
Malcolm McLaren pretends to be the main man (as he is prone to), but that doesnt spoil some good parts of this film, including some good tracks & performances.
For a true & better film see Filth & The Fury, a film done by The Pistols with, I believe, Julian Temple again, however this film is worth watching- Just dont believe the tripe!!
(BTW Temple apologised for his part in producing Rock n Roll Swindle)
Customer Rating: Summary: MonumentalComment: This film is something special. Capturing both the spirit of the time and the spirit of the Pistols, this manages to be both fake AND true, and I guess that's what punk's all about. And this film is at last on DVD, with a few extras, a dream come true for everyone who's watched it on grainy video with their mates. Never denying that they were a manufactured pop band, the Pistols exploded with raw energy, and they were oh so pretty.Customer Rating: Summary: DisappointingComment: Don't know if its just my copy of the DVD, but it seems to have been edited from the original film - there are short sequences removed here and there, and the whole of the "Friggin In The Riggin" song is gone.Apart from that, its good to see the chaos that was the pistols relived on this DVD. The live sequences are excellent, and the picture makes an interesting comparsion to the much later "Filth and Fury".
If you liked the Pistols, try it.
Customer Rating: Summary: A rite of passage...Comment: This film is definetly a rite of passage for any diehard pistols' fan out there. It's especially interesting to have seen both this film and "The Filth and the Fury".I have to say, as the film went on, it made less and less sense to me and it did get to the point where Sid Vicious was wandering around Paris, offending French people, and I was quite confused as to how we went from less sense to no sense. But it was quite funny seeing Maclaren in drag...
Even without making a whole lot of sense, it's a wicked film, with some wicked pistols' footage and lots of bits that will make you giggle.
