Comment: The show, Neil's performance and the way it was filmed are first class, but the audio (Dolby stereo) is quite flat and lacking dynamics. When Neil is performing the ballads his vocals are up front, but when the whole orchestra comes into swing, they are getting 'snowed under'. The bass, percussion and drums are pretty flat, even my beefy subwoofer (Rel Storm-V) can only do so much. I know it was recorded in 1976, but I've heard better results from these periods. So if you are a Neil Diamond fan and not a sound fanatic, buy it, but if you are particular about a good sound, stick to his better Cd's! Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful Memories Comment: This is Neil Diamond at the Peak of His Career...The concert was Telecast all around Australia and seen by over 3 million viewers...Its as fresh today as it was then....Just Fantastic....Neil is loved in Australia and this dvd will sell millions when released later in the year..... I might add that John Denver did many concerts in Australia and he performed a televised concert and Hopefully this can to be released on dvd soon......Both Wonderful Performers and Neil Diamond brought back very happy memories with this dvd...Excellent Customer Rating: Summary: A must for any fan. Customer Rating: Summary: Well Worth Watching Comment: You could say that Neil Diamond has been like a mystical figure for me as I have never seen him perform live and, until now, I suppose I had created a Neil Diamond that only existed in my imagination. I emigrated to Spain 31 years ago and he has never performed in Spain. Before I received this DVD I avidly read the other reviews (to all three of you, thank you, your comments were very helpful) and I conjured up an illusion of something out of this world that matched the pre-conceived idea I had of the Neil Diamond performing "Hot August Night" or acting in "The Jazz Singer"; not the squeaky-clean man in "Greatest Hits Live". As you can probably imagine, as soon as I received the DVD, I couldn't wait to watch it. Sadly, the only sensation I felt at the beginning was disappointment; the sound wasn't nearly as good,and as enveloping, as I had expected. However, this morning I sat down and watched the DVD again, reminding myself that the concert was filmed 32 years ago, and could never match something produced today, and I have enjoyed it immensely. For those of you who don't know what to do, I highly recommend this DVD. For the fans from the 70's this DVD is well worth watching and for later fans, well, re-living a bit of history never goes amiss. Customer Rating: Summary: PRETTY AMAZING... Comment: I too saw Neil at Birmingam NIA last week, twice, and have seen almost every Birmingham show since 1984..he really is the ultimate SUPERSTAR ..the voice is strong, the music stands the test of time...and this is a must for every Diamondhead. At last, the ultimate concert DVD..never mind they are all 32 years younger, the gang are all there, King with a full head of hair...Linda...looking very sweet, Alan, Tom, Reinie..and they were at Birmingham last week...says it all. This is a truly amazing concert, let's hope there is much more to come out of the ArchAngel archives...BUY IT AND ENJOY..especially the leather flares! More Reviews
