Comment: ANOTHER BORING SINGLE FROM THE LIVERPUDLIANS MOST BORING OF OLD FOGEYS. I THOUGHT THE LAST GIRLS ALOUD SINGLE REALLY ROCKED, BECAUSE THATS THE EFFECT ON MY BED WITH MY BOYFRIEND, WHO HAS SHORTER HAIR THAN LIAM BECAUSE HE IS A REGGAE REVIVALIST CALLED A SKINHEAD.

Summary: Irresistible, relentless, catchy - Oasis on top form here

When i first heard The Shock Of The Lightning, i was literally blown away. Oasis have always come up with the goods in terms of lead singles but with this track they have delivered something truly special, blending the raw, relentless feel of The Hindu Times with the undeniable pop sensibilities and catchiness of the Don't Believe The Truth singles we have a song that is instantly accesible.

It is testament to Noel's songwriting skills that hearing this on the radio, it already sounds like a classic. Put simply, i love this track and if the rest of the album is as good as this song it will be a true highlight of 2008.

As the b-side we get the Chemical Brothers remix of Falling Down - with a dreamy, melancholy feel - this version sensibly retains that crucial 'Oasis sound' while packing it full of dance beats and razor sharp synths. A great little extra that rounds off this CD and makes it well worth getting your hands on.

Summary: Best Lead Single In Ages
Comment: This song is awesome. Not too impressed with it to begin with, but it really grows on the listener, particularly the catchy bits like the 'come in come out tonight' refrain and the 'all in good time!' bit in the chorus.

Apart from a couple of dodgy lyrics, this song can do no wrong. The sheer energy behind the song is immense - it really is headbanging stuff. The song also includes a terrific drum solo in the middle of the song, something that is quite rare in an Oasis song. Probably the best thing about the song is that Liam Gallagher's voice is really on top form - sounds like the Liam Gallagher from Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory.

As Oasis lead of singles go, this is the best since the 1997 epic track 'D'You Know What I Mean?'. It pips the brilliant 'Hindu Times' from 2002's Heathen Chemistry (primarily because Liam's vocals aren't raspy like that single), while it walks over Go Let It Out and Lyla.

Great record - would not sound out of place on Definitely Maybe.
