Summary: Colorful
Comment: This colorful book is a companion to the recently released movie of the same title. The creators of the movie seek to bring the decadence of fin-de-siecle France to the modern world. The book begins with a series of page-sized photos from the movie, and then moves on to turn of the 20th century France and the Moulin Rouge, "the most exotic sex market in Paris." Finally, the book discusses the creators of the movie, their thoughts, dreams and motivations. Throughout it all, the book is crammed full of exquisite photos (almost exclusively color), which give the reader a glimpse of the movie and fin-de-siecle France.

Overall, I liked this book. It is quite well put together, catching to view. It is light on text, which means that it tells you rather little about the era. However, it's frank look at the era does mean that what little it does contain is information that you will not find in most "normal" history books.

If you are interested in the movie, Moulin Rouge, or in fin-de-siecle France, then I would recommend that you read this book.

Summary: Lush!
Comment: This is a picture book (but none the worse for that). If you want words, look somewhere else. But if you want lots and lots of lush (very lush!) pictures from the film - this is your book! Perfect!

Summary: BRILLIANT , SPECTACULAR AND WONDERFUL.
Comment: This book is brilliant it is full of pictures from the film, backstage, cast and crew. The book tells you a little bit about the Moulin Rouge, the music, the making of and the story. The only thing that I would mark it down on is the fact that there is not a lot of writing but, that is no reason not to buy this book, plus the pictures are exellent. If I was only allowed to buy or read one book it would be this because it is a great read and also it has a lot of pictures of Ewan McGregor in it (I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!). I hope this review helped you and thank tou for reading it.

Summary: magnificent, opulent, tremendous, stupendous...
Comment: Well, the film was most certinaly Spectacular, but what about the book? Filled with glossy photo's, taken from both behind the scenes and in the film, helps you to see what you might not have caught while watching the movie, and to understand how certain things were done. With special pages dedicated to Nicole Kidman (Satine) and Ewan McGregor (Christian), pictures of dance scenes, the REAL Moulin Rouge and more, there's something for everyone.
The text in the book is minimal, but includes a diary of shooting and script writing, and reasons why filming was postponed for a total of 3 months after the script was written (For several different reasons). Tells you about the individual scenes that took 6 months to assemble, were used for 3 days and destroyed in under 24 hours.
An enjoyable book for every Moulin Rouge fan.

Summary: So exciting, the audience will stomp and cheer!
Comment: A wonderful catalogue of pictures from the film, put together by Baz Luhrman himself! (plus Catherine Martin). It really gets you back into the feel of the film, and the text is very interesting, but there's not much of it! More text, less pictures!
