Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Judy Shines Live Comment: The parts in this show where Judy sings are magic, some of the comdey sketches with Jerry Van Dyke are tedious. There are so many highlights, in 'The Man that Got Away' her voice is so good I thought it must be pre-recorded. When she launches into 'Memory of You' in Show Two she sings a beautiful intro 'Every Sunset toooooooooo' and it's moments like this that make buying the DVD worth every penny. Thank God for DVD - you can skip the tedious bits. Some of the other singers like Lena Horne and Peggy Lee are entertaining too. I am just 'saving up' now to buy the other box set. There are two concert style shows here and so the other box set must have four concerts. They are meant to be the highlight of the series. The picture quality is excellent and, as I say, if you can just fast forward the tedious stuff you get Essential Garland. Watch out for her singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. The ending makes you want to stand, cheer and cry at the magnitude of her performance. What a talent. Judy died the year I was born and how I wish I could have seen her live. This is the closest we get. People say that this is the only concert footage of her but I have seen clips of Carniege Hall on TV - is there a DVD of this? And Amazon.com sell the Judy and Liza concert. I wish the British Amazon sold the same array of things as the American one. Anyway.....enjoy the Box Set, I'm sure you'll return to it again and again. There's something addictive about Garland,her performances and the music that accompanies her. More Reviews
