Editorial Reviews:
The original 1964 LP of
Zulu
was a peculiar album, with one side devoted to the film's soundtrack, the other to a selection of stomping Shadows-style instrumentals completely unconnected with the movie. Furthermore, the album was only ever available in rather boxy mono. So it's good to have this premiere recording of Barry's tense, swirling score in spanking new digital stereo; and from the opening bars of the Prague orchestra's energetic performance it is almost like hearing the music for the first time. Just as welcome on this thankfully Bond-less set is the first recording of
Mister Moses
, another of the composer's scores coloured by the pulsing rhythms of Africa, the bluesy theme from
Hammett
, a jazz-tinged suite from
The Cotton Club
, the expansive Buffalo hunt from
Dances with Wolves
, the imposing choral prelude to
The Last Valley
, and many other less familiar excerpts that should keep most Barry fans happy. --
Robert Seeley

Rubbish Extras!
Comment:
I am the hugest fan of the film 'Zulu' and so instantly bought this OSD when I saw it. I was so disappointed when I saw all the rubbish that they had added on to the rest of the CD. After listening to all tracks on both CDs I decided that the album could easily be only 7 tracks long. The rest are from other films!! I gave this OSD 4 Stars because the 7 tracks that are good are infact great! Extremely powerful, brilliantly played and just bring back all the memories of the film. It didn't get 5 stars simply because of all the other rubbish. Definitely worth buying for any fan of the film.

Some of the best music I've heard
Comment:
Zulu has some the most intense music i've heard on a soundtrack. When i listen to it i can see the images in my head and feel what is happening. it is quite differcult to describe with words but anyone who hears it for themselves will know what i'm talking about. You kind of get sucked into the CD and you experience the film, very good, i recomend this Cd to anyone.
