If anything, the soundtrack is too intense, too emotional. It's brutal in more than a few places, assaulting with cymbal crashes, tearing at heartstrings with the string section, exotic and evocative with occasional Indian instruments. It's an intense 45 minutes, and the soundtrack holds its own among the best of Zimmer's earlier works. It's not quite as good as, say, Beyond Rangoon, but it's certainly worthy of attention.
