Editorial Reviews:
This version of the soundtrack to the hit musical is from the stage production, which ended rather differently than the movie: just about the entire cast (except for the backup singers) winds up as lunch for the hungry plant. As a result, this CD lacks the song "Mean Green Mother from Outer Space", which was written for the film. Instead, the recording closes with "Don't Feed the Plants", which is much more in keeping with the spirit of the rest of the musical.
Little Shop of Horrors
explores a wide variety of musical styles, from the rhumba-inflected "Mushnik and Son" to the I'm-on-Broadway ballads "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly Seymour". The most spirited numbers are those that feature the trio of back-up singers, who perform on the title track "Skid Row", "Da-Doo", "The Meek Shall Inherit" and other numbers with considerable energy. The recording loses something if you haven't actually seen the stage production but hearing this CD will give you an excellent reason to do so.

Amazon Product Description wrong!
Comment:
Please ignore the Product Description by Amazon.co.uk - it says on there that 'Mean Green Mother from Outer Space' is replaced with 'Don't Feed the Plants', which on this CD it ISN'T!!! 'Mean Green Mother' is on this CD, as this CD is the movie soundtrack, not the Original Broadway soundtrack. If you are looking for the stage soundtrack, this isn't it. It's very good though - love the voice of the Plant, and Rick Moranis is brilliant.

Nice music, superb actors, production not so good.
Comment:
I loved so much the movie that couldn't forget the music, so I had to get the soundtrack and I really enjoyed it. It's only after several listenings that you notice the production could be richer and the arrengements better finished. Maybe it's the time since the recording was done or, I guess, some my argue that the simplicity of some songs is a part of the charm of Little Shop of Horrors.

Fantastic
Comment:
This is the music of the film of the show. And damn good it is. The movie version of Little Shop of Horrors was fantastically cast, putting Rick Moranis as Seymour and Steve Martin as the insane dentist. Rick Moranis sold you his Seymour instantly from his looks to his voice. Whilst zany Steve Martin was the perfect dentist. The original Audrey sings on the CD as well adding her amazing vocal talent to the album. All told a load of great songs from the film of the play done up Hollywood Style!!!

Unbelievably fabulous
Comment:
Before they wrote the triumphant Beauty and the Beast for Disney, the brilliant Ashman and Mencken wrote the songs for this cute little Frank Oz musical. They're great songs, and the performances are superb. I have been known to sing this until I lose my voice. It's doo-woppy, but there are some proper show tunes. Suddenly Seymour is one of the finest love songs written since the days of Lerner and Lowe, and is reprised slightly in The Little Mermaid's Part of your world. Some Fun Now is a little like Under the sea, also from The Little Mermaid. But hey, if they want to steal their own songs they can. Ashman died a few years ago and Mencken has yet to find such a brilliant, witty, innovative writing partner. Tim Rice certainyl didn't measure up. Buy this and you'll love it.
