Editorial Reviews: A fantasy realm encompassing every form of make-believe is conjured up by The 10th Kingdom--another instalment in the grand Hallmark TV series. Switching back and forth in the equally fantastical New York City, the story required a score of enormous range. Fitted snugly onto an hour-long album, that score can seem peculiarly schizophrenic. A little re-programming would easily result in two completely different stylistic sections. On one hand there's the electronic uniqueness that drips and explodes in time to magical goings-on. This all smacks heavily of the composer's days with The Art of Noise (eg backward samples). But then there's the grand scale of palatial fanfares, heroic rescues, and romantic couplings (the lovely harp strumming of "Kissing Town"). Your enjoyment of this album will be decided first by whether you've seen the production, and then by whether an occasional harsh disparity between tracks is distracting. When you move from the dissonant noise of "Blood on the Snow" to the drawling Gerschwin-like swagger of "Trolls in New York", it's all about personal sequencing taste. --Paul Tonks

Summary: Excellent!
Comment: This recording includes all the music from the TV series about fantasy, romance, suspence, terror, and fairy tales. The series is set in the 9 Kingdoms- where the Grimm fairy tales took place, 200 years after 'happy ever after'. This recording highlights the ups and downs of the TV series and also contains the fabulous 'Wishing on a star' theme tune.
