Editorial Reviews: If you've ever wanted to stage a full-scale reproduction of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? at home--or, maybe, down your local--you're now in luck. Together with the quiz book, this official soundtrack leaves you wanting only for a Chris Tarrant stand-in--and judging by our mates, it's not that hard to find a punter with a creditable impression. At 76 tracks, this CD collects every synth-pop musical cue on the show, plus a radio edit and club mix (!) of "Is That Your Final Answer?", which begs the question of whether a collection can be too complete. It may take a dedicated fan to stick with it, but the eight enclosed question cards could save your next family re-union. --Lee Mazzilli

Summary: An excellent CD!
Comment: This has got to be one of the best soundtracks of any TV show. Millionaire is a very popular show and if you are a fan (particularly with its music) it is an excellent score, and it is exceptionally good value at the price you pay.
My favourite tracks are 'Opening Titles and Walk Down', and the win tracks. Also the 2 extra tracks (the radio edit and club mix) are really good songs. I would recommend this CD to anyone.
Playing the game at home with the CD is great fun, the music is so atmospheric. Definitely 10 out of 10 if you ask me.

Summary: Excellent CD
Comment: No other TV show has ever done this, releasing their incidental music out into the public domain. Millionaire won viewing audiences not seen since the 1980s and also opened up marketing avenues in other countries. It also rewrote the quiz show model.

This CD captures the full (ish) range of music output on Millionaire UK and is clean which means you can hear it in full without all that clapping.

However, I forsee a problem when playing the game. Due to the way the tracks are arranged (and CD players work) you'll never get that smooth transition from tune to tune like on the show which, I reckon, could frustrate game attempts if the musician has to jump the CD Player all over the CD to have the right music playing at the right time.

Apart from that, great CD!

Summary: Not perfect - but approaching it!
Comment: I'd agree with our Polish friend's review - excellent, except for the odd missing track (along with 2 or 3 that I've NEVER heard on the show - the "Explain..." ones - I reckon our American cousins maybe need things explained to them more often than we do in the UK!)

The 2 most annoying things though are firstly that the Opening Titles & Walk Down track is the extended version - not the one broadcast on the UK show. Secondly - the "lose" tracks appear between the "Final Answer" & "Win" tracks, meaning that you can't let the CD run through a let's play-question-final answer-win sequence. This is very annoying! If you buy it & play it through you'll see what I mean!

I may yet buy the single as well, just to see if there's anything on there that's not on the album.

Having said all that, it's still a superb (and impossible to find in the shops) album, well worth the money if, like me, you are obsessed with the show, and in particular with its music!

Nice one Keith & Matthew Strachan! (the music's composers & performers)

If anyone knows where I can buy a copy of the behind-the-scenes/making-of book, please let me know - I can't even find it on Amazon, let alone in any book shops!

Summary: Great CD
Comment: I'm the fan of Polish version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. I love this show, so I've bought the CD. It contains really good stuff, but it could be more of it. First there is no 100-1000 win and lose beeps. Then, there is no "Correct order" cue. Third - the Let's Play and Final Answer? cues should be longer... at least one minute long each. Fourth... The theme between "Time's up" and "Closing Theme" that we can hear in the background in the show is missing. Fifth... when host gives a check to contestant the music that is missing on CD plays. And the last one: The Opening titles and walkdown track is not the same as in the show (I'm talking about the second part of this cue). All but that is ok.

Summary: Wonderful CD for any Millionaire fan
Comment: This CD is perhaps one of the best soundtracks to any TV show. No game show in the history of the U.S. or the U.K. has ever realesed a score like this. It has every single musical cue...including some twice.

My favorite tracks include "Explain the Knockout Game" and "1,000,000 Win". "Explain the Knockout Game" is never heard in its entirety, and it is an awesome peice...over two minutes long. We hear, at most, 10 seconds on the show.

All of the question cues are amazingly long and great. The "win" themes are all great because you never hear these without audience clapping.

They didn't miss much on this CD...except the lose and the winners beeps for the 100-1000 Questions. And also, of course, the US highlight music won't be found here but thats OK.

A great CD, MUCH better then the U.S. version. We don't want to hear Regis (or Chris) sing, we want to hear "Light Down $32,000"
