Back to Ally Mcbeal - For Once In My Life

A good album, but needs a bit of spicing up!
Comment:
Like many others, I brought this album as I have the other 2 cd's from the show and loved them, but
I am a little disappointed with this cd, I love Vonda Shepard, but too many of the songs she sings
in this album are of the same tempo and style, towards the end, you get a good change with Tina
Turner, Barry White and an excellent tune from Chanyanne.
In all, if you are a fan of the show,
get it, but dont expect it to be as good as the others!

Another brilliant Ally Soundtrack
Comment:
Yet another brilliant soundtrack from the show. It has to be the only show where the music conveys
how everyone feels so powerfully. The minute I heard the song "chances are" on Ally, I knew it would
have to be on the next album. Where would you get a show where so many of the cast have great
voices? Excellent CD, well worth the money and an absolute must for the collection for any Ally,
Vonda or Robert Downey Jr fans.

At last, they've included Barry White!!
Comment:
It had to be done and is long overdue, an Ally McBeal soundtrack featuring excellent tunes other
than those featuring Vonda Shepard which are soooo reminiscent of the show!! If one song will
forever remind me of Ally McBeal it will be Barry White's You're the First etc.. Whilst Vonda's
voice remains the centrepiece of the show's music it's great that this album also contains some of
the other musical highlights by other artists. The duet with the amazing Anastacia is fantastic and
Robert Downey Jr. has a great voice which shines out on this CD. I find that the Ally McBeal
soundtracks grow on me as I see the episodes containing individual songs and can appreciate the
context of the stories that they accompany, so I guess this CD will earn an extra star in the coming
months. For this reason, some of the songs sound a bit flat and boring, but I thought that about
the 2nd album when I first had it, only to have a total change of mind when I saw the songs on the
show. I think the 2nd half of the album is better, especially the beautiful rendition of Alone
Again but nevertheless once again, it's all great! Tip for the next album - more cast members
'doing a number' esp. Lisa Nicole Carson and Jane Krakowski - they have great voices!

Robert Downey Jr
Comment:
This CD is excellent, from start to finish. If there is only one reason for you to buy this album,
make it Robert Downey Jr. He has such a soulful voice and carries the song 'Chances Are' with Vonda
amazingly. This is a must buy album for all Ally McBeal fans and with such artists as Barry White,
Tina Turner, Sting and Anastasia not for getting Robert Downey Jr there is no reason why you
shouldn't be adding this to your collection. It will be in my CD player for some time.

Pretty good, but could be better!!
Comment:
I bought this album for one reason, and one reason alone. And everyone who watches Ally knows what
it is. Chances Are. When I heard him sing that song, I rushed around screaming why do I know that
song. I harrassed my family till my sister remembered that it was on the Hope Float soundtrack, so
I rushed over to her house to listen. Imagine my surprise, this version is good, but Bob Segar's is
better. The rest of the album is alright, Chayanne's Boom Boom, and Vonda's You and Me in
particular. I didn't buy the 2nd Ally McBeal album because it was starting to bug me the way the
cast wasn't included, especially when so many of them are such great singers. That's still a major
bone of contention with me, but if that doesn't bother you, this is worth a listen, although in my
opinion most of the season's best songs have yet again been left out.
