Editorial Reviews: Rather unusually for a comedy series, the soundtrack to series two of Channel 4's Trigger Happy TV isn't packed with upbeat pop numbers or novelty tunes. Instead, the songs on offer tend towards the more morose and thoughtful end of the modern musical spectrum. Bands such as Grandaddy, PJ Harvey and Shack have seldom produced music that could be described as "zany", "madcap" or "wacky". And though those three words could aptly describe the most famous output of Slade, their out-of-character contribution ("Everyday") does nothing to lift the tone. Not that it should, mind; because in the main these are all excellent songs. Trigger Happy TV updates the Candid Camera formula, but focuses on the absurd non-reaction (and often, embarrassment) of its "victims". Maybe it's for the victims that this soundtrack was produced? --Ted Kord
Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: mixed emotions bring those funny memories flooding back Comment: You may not rocognise some of the titles but if your a fan of the show youll love it. A great follow on from the first cd the only dissapontment being the exclusion of If i could read your mind [ the one with the artist]. Hopefully this will be on the next album . Customer Rating: Summary: absolutely brilliant Comment: Even if you've only seen the programme once ; the sketches are instantly recalled when you listen to each of these superb tracks. Grant Lee Buffalo - "Jupiter & Teardrop" - track 1 just has to be a track to drive to -- as is the whole of the album . Track 2 - A Slade classic - "Everyday" ; brings emotions flooding forward to anyone who is away from their loved ones ( as Noddy was when he wrote the song ). Track 7 - Grandaddy's --"He's Simple, He'sDumb. He's The Pilot" -- wel , what can I say ? Just listen to it, and drift with the meaning/emotions that this brings on. If there is only one album you buy this month; it must be this magnificent, brilliant, cracking album THE BEST !! Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Comment: Much like the original Trigger Happy album, which charted the music of the first series of the insanely funny Channel 4 comedy show, this one packs in more fantastic music. Not only are the tracks famous in their own right, but they also remind you of some of the classic moments from the TV series itself, including the snail at the pedestrian crossing and the educated punk.
