Summary: MOST EXCELLENT
Comment: This soundtrack embodies everything an artist can ever compose. Absolutely astounding and brilliant scores to accompany the BBC series. All credit to Christopher Gunning with whom without him this would never had been produced. Absolutely amazing. Buy it!

Summary: Wild Africa in all its moods and guises.
Comment: This CD has everything, and encompasses a breadth of moods and experiences. There is a beautifully recurring motif throughout the CD and I found myself listening out for it. Personally one of my favourite tracks is Fruits of the Forest, a haunting melody.

I am a primary school teacher and this CD has been played endlessly in our school as an inspiration for creative dance, art, 'thinking time' and 'brain breaks.' The music stimulated children who had not previuosly shown any interest in reacting to music, and has been used extensively in the classroom. The children's favourite track was "Animal Conflicts" as they said that they could 'see' the images in their heads.
Highly recommended whether you saw the TV series or not - with this music you can make up your own scenes of Africa - in your head!

Summary: A stirring and haunting evocation of Africa in music
Comment: A friend in England sent me a copy of the soundtrack of Wild Africa. Anything this composer does is worth a listen and this score is brilliant. A rich orchestral tapestry overlaying African rhythms, with haunting melodies and colours.

Summary: A wonderful soundtrack that stands on its own
Comment: The music for "Wild Africa" is by the composer of "Agatha Christie's Poirot" and many other television productions. Those listeners that expect purely African music might be disappointed to find that much of the CD is scored for an orchestra, but for lovers of soundtracks this is an album for your collection. The music is mostly tuneful, expressive and richly orchestrated, and there are reminders of Africa in the use of percussion and some other 'ethnic' instruments. Tracks that stand out are "Wild Africa" which is an extended version of the up-tempo title music, "Snowcaps on the Equator", which is grand in scale, "Manta Rays and Ospreys" calm and pretty, and "Songs of the Savannahs" which is complete with Shahili singing. But all twenty-three tracks make good listening, and this is a very enjoyable album indeed.
