Editorial Reviews:
Robbie Williams is the only ex- Take That-er to have achieved both major sales and widespread credibility, but his second album
I've Been Expecting You
is a mixed bag. With the singles "Millennium", "Strong", and "No Regrets", the album is unashamedly
Life Thru A Lens
Part Two. Full of self-parody ("My breath smells of a thousand fags/and when I'm drunk I dance like me dad"), the cheeky chappie's personality shines through on every track. His voice has improved no end since, and the album includes his finest moment to date: "No Regrets", which features backing vocals by the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon and Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant, and is not alone in playing on that James Bond-alike thing. In fairness it has to be said that there are some duff tracks ("Jesus in a Camper Van"), but these are easily outweighed by the likes of loud and noisy "Karma Killer", with full orchestral arrangement. In a typically audacious manner, "You Win Some You Lose Some" opens with the voice of ex-girlfriend Nicole Appleton of All Saints. The nation as a whole seems to be in love with Robbie, and it is this fascination, this desire for him to be good, which makes his music work as well as it does. --Ronita Dutta

A Curate's Egg, If you know what I mean...
Comment:
...as such, good in parts. I must admit that I am not the biggest fan of Robbie's music, and I hate Mr. Williams himself. However I would definitely say that this is his best album. It contains some good songs, the best being Strong, the opening track, which is simply outstanding. Sadly the rest of the album can't live with it. She's The One is nice, No Regrets and Phoenix From The Flame bearable, but Millenium has aged very badly and in fact after only three or four listens the James Bond-nicked riff and nonsensical lyrics become just plain annoying.
I wouldn't really recommend buying this album, get the Strong single instead.

Jolly Good
Comment:
A good follow up to Life Thru A Lens, containing strong material, including the number one single Millennium. Musically the Williams/Chambers writing partnership has matured nicely, with tracks such as Strong and Karma Killer. Robbie's voice just gets better and better. Buy it.

An album which gets better every time you listen
Comment:
This album has everything you could want. Almost every song is catchy, from the beautiful ballad "She's the one" to the loud, exciting "Karma killer". The singles aren't necessarily the best songs on the album; "Win some lose some" definitely out-classes "No Regrets". The songs all grow on you and every time you listen, they just get better. It is the only album that I have that I can keep coming back to for guaranteed enjoyment. Buy it!

Another Smash Hit!
Comment:
Well, another great album from our Rob! If there was going to be an album which would top Life Thru A Lens, Robbie did it brilliantly! He's really showing his real talent in this album, along with lots of emotion that the listners can relate to. My absolute favourite tracks on the album, is She's The One, along with Man Machine, both songs show real emotion and passion for music. In my ratings, Robbie scores ten out of ten for this fabulous album and if it says anything, it shows that there is plenty more coming!

I've been expecting u is one of the best c.d.'s I have purchased. The first time I listen to it every song went to no. 1 on my favs list. With this c.ds as with most of Robs work every song is just as good as the next. He has this amazing consistency which is hard to find. He doesn't just slap in a no.1 and pad the rest out with rubbish I could have made. So if u r looking for c.d. which will fill your days, nights and of course showers with musical delight look no futher!
