Editorial Reviews: After a two-year gap, Bryan Adams chose the animated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron to make his triumphant return. The soundtrack is by no means a solo effort, but he has cowritten and sings on eight brand-new songs. Two of them are deemed so good they appear twice. The first of these, "Here I Am", is an uplifting tune that plays as the film's end credits. The other is the film's finale, "I Will Always Return", which seems like a statement on the artists' career. Of the others, the most interesting is the duet with Sarah McLachlan on "Don't Let Go", lending it a particularly atmospheric air with their combined breathy vocal stylings. This being a story of a mystical heroic horse, the lyrics are consistently upbeat and optimistic. Behind those lyrics is a collection of composers providing the melodies. Leading the team is Hans Zimmer, who's now an old hand at the animated genre (cf The Lion King and The Prince of Egypt). Towards the end of the album are four cues totalling 20 minutes of his instrumental score. These are perfectly in keeping with both the songs and Zimmer's style, featuring big orchestral themes overlaid with electronic augmentation. All together it's an hour of exactly what both artists do best. --Paul Tonks

Summary: Wonderful soundtrack
Comment: I took my daughter to see this film at the pictures when it came out and I just had to have the soundtrack its brilliant and I'm not really a Bryan Adams fan. This album led me to find Sarah Mclauchlan who duets on "Don't let go" she is excellent and is on a lot of soundtracks I now have all her albums.

Summary: A brilliant, moving piece of work
Comment: One of the first things that strikes you when you watch the film, apart from the inventive storyline, and the fact that all of the "animal speak" is done as voiceovers (which works brilliantly =0D) is the music behind the film. As a general rule, I am a soundtrack lover who thinks Bryan Adams is amazing, and therefore you'd be forgiven for thinking that I'm biased. However, I can honestly say that there isn't a single bad track on it. It isn't a get-up-and-go type album; about two-thirds of the songs on it are quite downbeat (in an uplifting way) such as "I Will Always Return", "Sound the Bugle" and "Nothing I've Ever Known", but it is certainly an album that has stuck with me ever since the first time I saw the film, four years ago. It has an extraordinarily high replayability value, and I know I will listen to it a good many more times before I'm through!

To conclude: A laid back, quality album. If you like Bryan Adams, chances are you'll like this

Summary: truly awesome stuff
Comment: I am a metalhead, and I love my music big, powerful, artistic and emotive, and although not a single track on this is remotely metal or even heavy rock, I love it cos it is big, powerful, artistic and very emotive. I am now 15 and I saw this film when I was about 10 or 11. I've always loved horses and nature and I adored this film because it has beautiful imagery and tells the story from the horses point of view, and one very unique thing: the animals do not speak English or any other human language, which I very much liked - there are too many stupid films in which animals talk and it makes it all totally unrealistic and unbelievable. Back then when I bought this soundtrack I loved the quite light hearted feeling songs like Get Off My Back, but now as I prefer music more emotional and serious, I like the instrumentals more (tracks 10-13 incl.) as they are absolutely gorgeous (particularly The Long Road Back - you can tell when I'm REALLY depressed, cos I'll be listening to that, it's beautiful), but that's not to say that I don't like the other songs any more, I certainly do, particularly Brothers Under The Sun, Sound The Bugle and the last three on the album, they are all wonderful.
I keep this album on my shelf proudly next to the incredible Arch Enemy, Slipknot, Still Remains etc and still listen to it often, and along with many of my beloved rock and metal CDs it keeps me in touch with the spiritual, nature-loving side of my schizophrenic personality.
Unlike many soundtracks (e.g. Shrek, Spiderman, Disney etc) which have a few awesome songs, a few good ones and the rest suck, every track on this album is great, the lowest I'd give any particular one is 4 out of 5, though most would get 5.

Summary: ~~ONE UNIQUE SOUNDTRACK!~~
Comment: I first saw Spirit - Stallion of The Cimmaron, when it was released back in 2002. I brought the soundtrack weeks later, and i still listen to it now in 2005! its that good!

Bryan adams was the perfect selection to sing and contribute, i would definatly recommend his other works, if you liked him in this!

what i liek the MOST about Spirit soundtrack, is that you have some beautiful lyrics, and beautiful tunes. The music is very uplifting and relaxing, other tracks are heavy rock (Get off my back, you can't take me) which i think would be ideal for parties. The soundtrack also boasts very romantic music, with tracks such as Don't let go, nothing i've ever known. THe soundtrack also has a very sad song called Sound The Bugle, which WILL make you cry!

In other films that i have seen, i can always relate any character to any song from this soundtrack!

The songs have beautiful lyrics, and really brings out The West to the listener:

Under the starry skies - where eagles have flown
this place is paradise - its the place i call home.

I ALWAYS listen to this soundtrack at home, with lots of cups of tea, and would definatly reccomend it to ANYONE at ANY age!

Summary: One of the best scores of Hans Zimmer
Comment: It's amazing! The duo Hans Zimmer-Bryan Adams is wonderful. Because the movie is with animals(animated), the feeling and emotions of Spirit have to be expresed by music, and they(Zimmer,Adams) did a great job doing it.
