Editorial Reviews: James Bond themes tend to be just as memorable as their movie counterparts and, to a certain extent, just as time sensitive. While many fans can remember the Monty Norman Orchestra's steamy Dr. No theme or Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger," how many of us remember Rita Coolidge's dated "All Time High" from Octopussy or A-Ha's theme from The Living Daylights? Yes, just as we all have our favorite Bonds, we all have our favorite eras of Bond movie music. But surprisingly, whether they're New Wave, soul, or just Euro-pop inspired, most are still worth hearing. There are some real gems on this compilation: On Her Majesty's Secret Service's "We Have All the Time in the World" by Louis Armstrong, the Thunderball theme sung by Tom Jones, and the spunky theme to The Man With the Golden Gun by Lulu. Just overlook those sporadic lean years and you have a pretty stiff soundtrack cocktail here. --Jason Verlinde

Summary: The albums Bond, James Bond.......
Comment: This reminds you just how much the Bond films have benefited down the years from fantastic themes; all the themes are perfect in the fact that they give each film its distinct identity. The caliber of artists is also amazing, it obviously being very cool to do a Bond theme!!
If you love Bond, you'll know every tune off by heart; if you don't, you'll still know a lot of them.
My faves are 'Nobody Does It Better', 'For Your Eyes Only', 'Live and Let Die', and 'A View to a Kill', but I could make a case for virtually any track.
Great set of songs. Great films. Great album.

Summary: Bond Nirvana!
Comment: Here the beauty of John Barry's work & et al. This is simply as good as it gets for Bond Music. There are a lot of Bond compilations out there, many not to the original works.

If you are looking for a collection of the TRUE Bond themes this is THE ONE!

Summary: Great to Drive With!
Comment: If you have a decent CD player in your car, then put this on at full blast! This is, of course, a really blokey thing but if you get the first track at full volume on the stereo, you really do feel feel that you are driving that James Bond Aston Martin/Lotus/BMW/Aston Martin and can impress the woman in your life even if you have a Fiat Punto!!!!!!

Just to say that this is the most definitive "Bond" album to listen to at a very reasonable price (I bought this driving from Kent to Glasgow last year & loved it!) and you get all the classics.

I hope you enjoy James as much as I do & this album transports me to all those films that I watched when I was young. Oh gosh, I want to be a spy for the British Government...................

Summary: much better than expected!!!!
Comment: this album is much better than it looks and sounds like. you really get into the songs when you have listened to them a few times over. i suggest you buy this because, basically, it is such a great album.
This would also appeal to people who are not James Bond fans because of the quality of the music on the disk.

Summary: this is good...really good
Comment: Though not complete, this disc has a wonderful selection of Bond favorites, and it's a treat to have so many of the songs, in their original form, on one disc. Some of the songs and performances may be a little weak or not to everyone's liking, but taken as a whole, it is remarkable how much great music 007 has spawned, from track # 1, the Bond theme from "Dr. No" in 1963, to "The World is Not Enough" in 1999.
The highlights for me are:
"From Russia With Love", sung by Matt Monro. Monro's rendition is heavenly, and melodically this is my # 1 Bond song.
"Thunderball" sung by Tom Jones is a knock-out and "Goldeneye" with Tina Turner is equally strong.
Shirley Bassey has the voice I love to hate, and her unique, shrill power is so perfect for "Goldfinger", as well at the two other cuts she sings.
"The Living Daylights" by A-HA, "License to Kill" by Gladys Knight, Sheryl Crow's "Tomorrow Never Dies", and "The World is Not Enough" by Garbage are other choice numbers.

Bond fans will really appreciate this collection of thirty-five years of innovative "spy tunes". John Barry started it all, and his genius is one of the best things to happen to film music, and continues to be a huge influence. With an informative booklet insert on the films and the songs, the sound is excellent and total time is 71'25.
