Editorial Reviews: While the idea of infusing a weekly TV series with a Broadway-musical ethos isn't exactly a new one, it became something of a turn-of the-century television mini-trend. But few have reached as far--or succeeded--like this 2001 episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Penned by series creator-producer Josh Whedon and performed by Sarah Michelle Gellar and cast, it's a loving, loopy musical pastiche that takes pot shots at everything from Andrew Lloyd Webber to indie-rock. Paralleling the show's lovable pop culture tweaking, the musical styles here (the episode's musical conceit is a curse visited upon Buffy's hometown of Sunnydale) range from a patent footlight chorus of demons being interrupted by Gellar's hard-rocking stake thrusts on "Going Through the Motions" to Spike the Vampire's goth-metal complaint "Rest in Peace", with everything from parking tickets and mustard stain removal to climactic duels with the supernatural getting the Broadway send-up. Also includes strong orchestral score-suites from three other episodes, as well as Whedon and wife Kai Cole's demo for "Something to Sing About". --Jerry McCulley

Summary: Once again
Comment: Buffy has a cult following but this is an all daning and singing CD the TV show episode this CD is from basically revoles around Dawn (Buffy's Sister) and the Key to hell.

Dawn has magical summoned a dancing demon from somewhere and every now and again they break into song. The CD has every track from the show and a few bouns tracks.

The Nescafe guy Giles has good singing voice and on of his best song is 'Standing'

And Xander and Ayna impending wedding is used as a song idea there are a great deal of funny and great toe-tappping songsd here I think this CD is great for everyone the is on one word and one said in one song which may bring up some differcult questions from the very young.

But fans of the sexiest slayer will find this CD a great thing to add to thier collection the original CD wasn't that great but as the musicsal episode was meant to be the song where written and intended to be released on CD.

So if you haven't seen the series with this episode it's still a great CD for listening to it may even convert you into a fan.

Summary: Fantastic!!
Comment: I recently watched the episode on DVD again, and I'd forgotten how good the songs were, so I purchased this CD!

Yes, one or two of the actors can't hold a tune to save their lives(no names), but the majority are superb!! Sarah Michelle Gellar really takes the listener/viewer by surprise with how good she is, totally carries the episode and CD.

There are a few real musical gems on the playlist, for both vocal performance and lyrics. "Under Your Spell" sung by Amber Benson(Tara), "Rest In Peace" by James Marsters(Spike), and "Standing" by Anthony Head(Giles)....he has a lovely voice! Some of the group songs are really catchy too, such as the punchy "Walk Through The Fire" and "Where Do We Go From Here?".
As always with anything to do with Buffy, there's a lot of fun and words that hit the subject in question spot on!
A great lively mix of songs! 5 Stars!
