Summary:
The Kinks go instrumental
Comment:
Ignore the sleazy film that this was the soundtrack to and enjoy the music. 'God's Children' opens the proceedings with a bit of idealogy - "[Man's] got no right to turn us into machines". Then there's an instrumental version of 'Lola' that begins with a funky guitar riff and ends up as a brass frenzy.
'Dreams' is very pleasant and eventually provides the steady rhythm that you hoped it would maintain from the start. 'Just freinds' uses a sparse string arrangement to compliment the unusual vocal style. 'Animals in the zoo' has a nice rhythm and 'Willesden Green' is a tongue in cheek mock Elvis pastiche.
Many of the tracks are instrumental. The album isn't a patch on 'Arthur...' or '...Village Green...' but is pleasant nevertheless.
