Summary: brilliant....classic
Comment: You must listen to this soundtrack, I can't express how brilliant it is, and well worth your money.
From the heart-racing loudness of 'The Battle' to the soft yet simply effective 'Earth' to the
Wagner 'The might of Rome' the whole CD is excellent. I guarette there is not a single bad part of
this soundtrack, with emotion depths foud within including, rage, sorrow, anger, peace, and war, its
all hear.

Hans Zimmer's score will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, its that
good. Whereas Lisa Gerrand's voice with haunt you in 'Elysium' and 'Sorrow' long after you have
finished the CD.

Well worth any price to listen to just over an hour of sheer brilliant by the
best composer at the moment

Summary: We who are about to listen salute you!
Comment: Listening to this cd I both replayed the film "Gladiator" in my head and, paradoxically, forgot
completely about it at the same time.

Many soundtracks, especially those specially 'scored' for
the film fail to make the transition from movie to stand-alone cd - this is not one of them.

It is
powerful, tender, and indescribably moving - if you like your music like this then buy this cd; if
you prefer bland 'film music' then avoid like the plague.

If there were more than 5 stars to award
this I would do so every time

Summary: Now we are free
Comment: This is a collection of music that you cannot listen to as a work in isolation if you have not
watched the film Gladiator - it makes no sense.

But if you know the film Gladiator, then this is a
wonderful compilation and very evocative of the film.

That said, even if you have never seen the
film Gladiator, the track "Now we are free" is a stand-alone masterpeice. A soulful, masterful,
uplifting peice of music as I have ever heard.

Sadly it reminds me of the early death of Oliver
Reed during the filming of the movie, but it is a truely inspriring section of music.

Worth the
purchase of this CD alone.

The "Now we are free" end credits song is amazing and the soundtrack moves through the film with
ease and you can picture the battle scenes, the collesium scenes as you listen. Definatly worth your
money!

Summary: Stunning, audiophile quality sound and musicianship
Comment: Scale, power, depth and sensitivity all wrapped up in a detailed and highly involving soundstage.
There is 3D information here by the bucketful. In particular, 'Slaves to Rome' is the most exciting
and thrilling sonic tour-de-force ever heard by this listener, and certainly enough to make the
average audiophile go weak at the knees.
This is a reference disc by which all others can be
judged - a monumental work supported by state-of-the-art technical genius and musicianship.

Is
there anything to compare it with? Well, not much in the way of soundtracks since West Side Story
(1961) and possibly the sublime and beguiling 'American Beauty' (2000). They don't come this good
very often.
